Anyone going to Lodz to the Soundedit Festival for the 11th of September? Hooky is obviously there too. I'm heavily thinking about it, because Mr. Olley is there too. Same date, same festival - Easter and X-Mas on the same day... And seems that Hooky starts and then Chris follows :D

Former Joy Division bassist to close Vintage at Goodwood Festival
Peter ‘Hooky’ Hook, the legendary bass-player and co-founder of Joy Division has joined the line- up for the inaugural Vintage at Goodwood festival in August, where he will perform the band’s 1979 debut album ‘Unknown Pleasures’ with his band The Light complemented with a full orchestra and choir for the very first time.
Hooky will close the festival on Sunday August 15th performing vocals to Joy Division’s debut album from Factory Records in its entirety along as well as playing other Joy Division and Warsaw tracks.
The ex-New Order bassist joins a line–up that includes the first performances of The Faces and Sandie Shaw in decades, on a bill that boasts over 80 live bands that have defined or been inspired by trends of the last fifty years, including The Buzzcocks, Earth Wind & Fire, Alvin Stardust, The Noisettes, Swing Out Sister, Heaven 17 and Gaggle to name but a few.
They will be joined by one of the best DJ line-ups under one festival including ex Hacienda regulars Graeme Park, Andy Weatherall, A Guy Called Gerald and Greg Wilson plus Danny Rampling, Ashley Beedle, Ali B, Joey Negro, the Idjut Boys, Luke Unabomber and Disco Bloodbath.
Dubbed ‘The Festival of Our Lives’, Vintage at Goodwood will take place 13th -15th August combining the best of British cool over five decades. Co-founded by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, (of Red or Dead fame) and Lord March (the mastermind behind successful international events such as Glorious Goodwood, Revival and Festival of Speed), the festival will additionally feature catwalk shows, exhibitions, five on site night clubs and the largest collection of vintage market sellers ever.
Hook said of his decision to play at Vintage: “Unknown Pleasures has served as such an inspiration to so many people, so it’s fitting that we’re closing the ‘Inspired By’ stage on the final night. I’m hoping it will be a tremendous finale to the event”.
“Working with the orchestra and choir will hopefully give the concert an ethereal and haunting quality. I first performed with an orchestra earlier this year at Versus Cancer, the Royal Philharmonic and I’m looking forward to repeating the experience at Vintage. Rowetta’s voice especially lends itself to being backed by an orchestra.”
He added: “Also what is nice is that so many people I’ve worked with previously are involved in contributing to the festival in one way or another. Pete Saville’s doing something, Lilly Allen’s there so presumably her dad will be knocking about, a lot of the DJ’s I’ve worked with at The Hacienda are involved- Greg Wilson, Graeme Park, Gerald, Andy Weatherall - and as a blast from the past Buzzcocks are playing so there’ll be a lot of old friends to run into.”
Wayne Hemingway said: “For Peter to bring an orchestral element to such a revered album is a great honour for us, it will make for an amazing occasion and a fitting close to our first festival. I both encourage and predict a very moving sing along to Love Will Tear Us Apart at its climax.”
Hook’s accompanying orchestra will led by renowned musician Sid Gauld. He will also be joined for the special performance by friends including the Happy Monday’s former backing singer Rowetta Satchell who will contribute to tracks ‘Atmosphere,’ ‘Insight’ and ‘New Dawn Fades’. Hook’s son Jack Bates will play bass at the concert joined by rhythm guitarist Nat Wason, Andy Poole on keyboards. and Monaco’s Paul Kehoe on drums.
I cant make any of the dates so Id like to ask the obvious; is there any chance of it being recorded for a DVD/CD release because it sounds fucking mega.

Having already seen this, I wasn't too bothered about going again. But I found out that Sandie Shaw and The Bees are on the bill too. Might make the effort to go again.
good to hear that some vikings were in attendance in london on saturday! Hope you enjoyed it, we did. Got some news anyway we are coming to the USA and mexico in the 1st two weeks of december. i'll put up the cities venues and dates when we have them 100% confirmed. It was fucking amazing at the 1234 festival on Saturday. I loved the attention to detail, like using Trans Europe Express as an intro like JD would've done. To be honest I didn't know what to expect, my mate had bought me a ticket as a present but now after seeing it, everyone who loves Unknown Pleasures/Joy Division should check it out. Rowetta's singing on Insight and New Dawn Fades was heart stopping and the ambient sounds flying around on Candidate and I Remember Nothing had me spellbound. The spirit was there, I got the feeling. Nice one Hooky and band.
