Peter Hook Preps 'Unknown Pleasures' Gigs, Says New Order Reunion Possible

I think the reason why there's criticism of Hooky doing such things here is maybe because it's a JD/NO forum...plus, I think most of the people would have a stronger opinion about Hooky doing such because they are fans of Joy Division. I don't think all Pink Floyd fans necessarily love the idea of the guy doing The Wall, either.

And I did go and see Killing Joke recently and they were ace, which possibly on the face of it contradicts what I said before, but at least we're talking all original 4 members and a band that sounds as brilliant as they did in 1980, plus the new stuff is pretty good too. I'm also going to see The Pop Group soon, also more authentic in reformation than something with ONE original member performing mainly in a different role to the one that helped make the band great in the first instance! Not to mention that JD has been done TO DEATH and frankly I never want to hear anything other than the original performances/versions ever again!

Some here are acting as if it's Very Strange Behavior. My point is that not only is it not such an anomaly, it's actually been a very successful move elsewhere - sold-out shows at $250+ a seat.

Anyone who doesn't want to hear the Hook Family play Insight or New Dawn Fades is kindly invited to go find something else to listen to. Personally I'm happy to have paid $10 or $15 or whatever it was to be reminded of what a stomping good debut album Unknown Pleasures was, especially since I never had the luxury of hearing most of those songs live before. That doesn't mean I'm living in the past - I'd also be very happy to hear Hook do something worthy of his previous efforts, and for my money the most interesting bands these days are Stars (brilliant songwriting, intense live show, hell of a deep catalog 5 albums in) and Röyksopp (wouldn't mind hearing Hooky team up with them for a track or two).

I'm quite sure that most of us here discussing this, no matter what we think of this JD tour, aren't 'whiny bitches', to use someone else's words.

Plenty of bands have done this type of thing over the years, with friends. Sometimes other musicians get up and fuck the song up even worse!

The deal is here, that people have a gripe against Hooky and Sultan, and therefore love to stick the knife in! And with both doing 'Ceremony' together, what a great opportunity to do so.

The FUC51, is great for disgruntled ex friends and co-workers/associates of Hooky to publicly flame him. This is also not a new concept, happens to everyone! With the WORLD WIDE WANK, you can say what you like at the touch of a button. Even use the,"sorry I was drunk" clause the next day, if you get out of hand.

I've not read this thread at all, I'm just replying to it to remind everyone of one thing. Right to the end, Hooky took being on stage seriously and every note he played, he played the best he could. He was the one who stuck up for us all in Liverpool and he is the one who waded into the crowd at Glastonbury. Barney was just taking the piss back then; he might have gone all serious now, but let's remember that Hooky is the only reason that many of us bothered to turn up in 05 and Rocktober.
