It certainly does get you nostalgic. Thanks for posting, not seen this before.

My memories:

Earliest memory - Older sister buying Love Will Tear Us Apart, Temptation, Blue Monday, Confusion singles as they were released. She was a big influence on my music listening direction.

Start of the obsession - True Faith TOTP live TV appearance. Hooked from then on. Not seen a performance like this before. Bernard kept his eyes closed the whole time.

First purchase - Substance 1987 LP on the day of release.

First gig - Manchester G-Mex 17/12/88. Down the front. Bernard's white shorts, green/blue laser show, Ceremony, True Faith, Temptation shimmmering.

Technique released - After a minor disappointment with the computerised Fine Time, glad that the album had some real corkers on it (and some real instruments).

Paradise, the Fanzine - Wrote to Peter Hook to ask him for permission to start a fan publication? He wrote back telling us to go for it and subsequently wrote numerous times providing info etc. Met alot of fans through it.

Regret released. They are back after the Factory collapse. One of their best singles.

Reading 1993. Great gig again down the front but turned out to be the first split.

Liverpool Olympia 2001. Got tickets from Alan Wise himself after the gig had sold out. Distributed a few tickets to Paradise readers. They were back again. Crystal being an absolute stonking tune.

Meeting the band on many occasions down the years.

Great times. Plenty more memories obviously but they are the main chapters.

My first knowledge of JD was supporting Buzzcocks who I saw twice in a week at Blackburn King Georges Hall and Manchester Apollo. Blackburn gig I thought wtf is this but at Manchester was far more into it.

Can't remember how New Order entered my life but have seen the 20 odd times over the years, highlight being Warrington spectrum arena where like a tit I jumped off the balcony at the encore and broke a bone in my foot.

Fondly remember Summer of the 10th festival,all Blackburn Birmingham NEC, 1st wembley show and Finsbury Park.

Remember hearing Regret for the fist time and knowing it was New Order behore they even announced it, bought Crystal in Bude and sat in my car outside a guesthouse for an hour smoking a spliff and thinking fuck thay have still got it!

Other great memory was getting married in Aya Nappa and listening to Blue Monday about 10 times through the day.

And now I see them regulaly where I live and it freaks me out every time I see one of them!!

First gig - Electronic/Revenge - Cities in the Park 1991. New Order - Reading 1993

Best gig - Glasgow Barrowlands 2001 - 2 nights of New Order and beer :)

Worst gig - Finsbury Park 2002 - Cold, Wet and Predictable.

Highlights - Getting backstage passes to see New Order a few times. Meeting Tony Wilson & Alan Erasmus. Obviously the music - but also loved the artwork ,and the fact that the title of the song doesn't normally appear in the lyrics.

Disappointed - 2006 onwards... The best band ever becoming 2 utterly dreadful groups - Bad Lieutenant & Freebass :(

Nice to have these happy memories

First heard LWTUA on some kid walking past with a Ghetto Blaster on his shoulder - had heard the song before with the slowed down singing (!) and had to track it down and find out what it was all about.This would have been just after Ian died and when it was released as a single.

Saw in Smash Hits mag that 'Smash Hits is sad to announce the death of Ian Curtis..'

Read Peter Hook listed in 1980 or 81 NME poll as best bass player.

Saw NO live in 1984 - wasn't great (my review is on here)

Have told both of my teenage kids JD are the best band in the world ever and to always remember that - they could recognize most of their songs from an early age.

Daughter woke me up the other morning to tell me New Order was playing on Chris moyles' show - singing the Engerland song.

1988: Bought my first NO record. Substance in the weird card box packaging. Was absolutely obsessed by it for about 2 years.

Sometime around late 80s/v.early 90s hearing Jason Donovan on radio one saying New Order were one of his fave bands..... I think he picked out Thieves Like Us as his fave track.

Reading 93: My first festival and my first time seeing NO. Technique tracks getting a live airing. Imperfect and perfect at the same time.

Finsbury Park 2002: Cold and wet miserable day. Until NO came on... then the sun shone and I thought the set was great. Mind you, I had munched a couple of "disco-biscuits" I bought from a dodgy fella at the back of the site.

Let's hope the best memories are yet to come!
