I want New Order back :(

so whats this - I like few songs of Bad Lieutenant, but its not sounds like any of New Order productions. Why some members of the band are so selfish for not to be together for fans and music, i mean if you have a great electronic, post punk, rock band, and to be one of the pioneers in electronic and dance music - why you decline this... its seem like that the mission of your life, so c`mon New Order get back in business

People have different opinions, and I respect different opinions, but I'd rather them not get back together. It took several years for them to reform between Republic and Get Ready---how many years would it take if it were to happen? If there are personality differences between some of the band members that are difficult to manage, then we might end up seeing a band that only reformed for the money.

If Bernard, Steve, Hooky, and Phil are happy doing whatever they do (whether it is Bad Lieutenant, collaborations, DJing, touring etc...) I'm fine with that. I don't think it's selfish of them to do that.

While I really like the last two albums I would argue that the level of innovation has dropped off. WFTSC and GR were, by and large, well-above-average guitar rock albums. As I said, they're really great records but currently I cant see what a reformed New Order would produce other than more of the same. That being the case Id agree with the notion that they should leave it be. However, if they can be arsed to start pushing the boundaries again and doing something new then the skies the limit.

I think they had stopped being innovative around the beginning of the '90's to be honest,(i.e. after Technique and the first Electronic album),but that's not a criticism as they had been so brilliant up to then,the first sign of a rot setting in for me is Blue Monday '88, it's no surprise that Bernard wanted a break around that time to freshen things up for himself with Electronic.

well i`m young fan of New Order - since Get Ready but it was pretty innovative music for me /was techno and minimal fan till i buy GR/ so i think that WTFSC was pretty good too but Bad Lieutenant sounds really average rock music for me, there is no essence of the familiar sound of NO.

I'd kill to have New Order back, even if it was the same sound they always had, never getting better but never getting worse. I thought WFTSC was a really strong album, actually. As is Get Ready. If they threw out another album of that caliber, I'd still be thrilled. Until then though, I really dig Bad Lieutenant. Haven't heard anything by Freebass yet, but I'm sure it's alright.

I agree. They should release the rest of WFTSC and be done with it. Maybe a final tour in 5 years when they get over everything before they turn 60.

lol, having Joy Division back would be the ideal.

Who knows? in some parallel universe they could indeed be going strong.

For me the last great New Order song was True Faith which itself was 24 years ago. But time moves on, I think they've reached the stars, once you've reached the stars there's nowhere else to go I guess.

Get Ready is a very classic New Order album!

Truth, though their label seems to forget they did, as a band with two albums somehow has so much "new" material, opposed to a band with seven or so is pushed to the side.

We can moan all we like about wanting the band back together but our voices won't make much difference. If they reform it's because they want to, if they don't it's because they don't want to. We don't really get a say.

But the point about the Sirens leftovers IS worth making. We, the fans can make a difference on that one by SHOUTING LOUD ENOUGH! If Warners think they can make money out of it they probably will. Such is capitalism.

I tried to shout around the time that the re-masters came out, but people were more intersted in complaining about the errors on those remasters. So now can we all, with a common voice demand those Sirens leftovers!?? They're not doing any good sitting in a vault.

I never understood why someone wouldn't have done the usual, when sticking out the normal GHREATESTHITS that adding 4-5 "new" songs (sitting the vaults) would've sweetened the pill.

Very little innovation since PC&L since then we have got some nice alt pop dance tunes Get Ready was a bit rocky and I still dont know what I think about that last thing leave it as it is - we will never get any as good as Age Of Consent again

I dont understand how, when a band puts out a greatest hits release, that they do put 4-5 new songs on there. How can they be greatest hits if they are new???

New Order have had a lot of great songs since PCL, that's just nonsense.

Get Ready was slightly innovative, at the time it certainly was very modern sounding, and for the most part the production still holds up today IMO

I think they should "quit while they ahead"

times have changed and are no longer relevant in the music market except to us fans of course. Same can be said for DM, the Cure, and other similiar bands.

But NO memories will live on forever.

I always thought the track "WFTSC" and the video was their "swan song" and the verse: "I don't know where to turn when you're gone" fittingly for the world.
