Is this a legal thing? Are they now not called 'New Order' but are actually called 'Bernard Summer, Stephen Morris, Gillian Gilbert, Phil Cunningham, New Order' ?

Any link where you can buy tickets? I know it starts on Friday, but I think you have to be quick on this one...

Or maybe they just want to say who are the members...but that wouldn't explain Tom Chapman's name not on there. Or maybe they didn't put his name because he never was a member of New Order, but the others were at one point (in other words, Tom being a supporting/touring member).

I think the names are to indicate that this is the majority of the original line up playing the shows....

As for Tom....I don't think that Tom has any intention of trying to actually replace Hooky, simply, he is there to play Hooky's parts. I've actually talked with Tom Chapman on Myspace quite a bit in the past, he is a really nice fellow, quite down to Earth and friendly. I doubt he himself would truly consider himself a replacement for Hooky.

This was right after Bad Loo's first string of dates, people were still using it then. Chatted a bit with Roger Lyons and Hooky on there in 2007. Nice chaps all!

Back in the summer of '83, after college, I went uninvited to the offices of Factory Records US on Spring Street in NYC seeking employment. I was greeted by Michael Shamberg who was warm and receptive. He put me to work right away, packing VHS tapes for mailing. Of course, this was indie music world and I was doing all this for free.

I spent some time with Michael. He introduced me to the joys of saki and turned me on to the film "Sans Soleil" by Chris Marker. My time at Factory US was short-lived (as was the label) but I was happy to see Michael continue to work with NO on their videos. The Jonathan Demme-directed "Perfect Kiss" video is one of the all time greats.

Great story, and thanks for sharing that. I'm glad that New Order is doing this for Michael Shamberg. He seems like a really cool behind-the-scenes guy.

I should think the poster is to ensure that no one tries to claim money back after the show on the grounds that it isn't the full line up of New Order, makng it perfectly clear that Peter Hook is not involved, not to piss him off, they may not get on and have a few unkind remarks, but I don't think they'd be that silly.

Also it would be very nice if Hooky could be added later

Tend to agree with Jed above that its more to do with not having to pay a shit load out to punters ( a la Arsenal!) who think hooky still in band...be interesting to know if out in it or Barney playing mind games ...

I'm trying to be more moderate, I know (as does everyone else) that i'm more n Hookys side n things, but the thing I would like most is to see them all play together agan, it isn't the same without Hooky, it wasn't the same when Gillian left, and I thought at the time they should have stuck with their original ethos and changed the name, but I should think Warners will have had something to say about that.

it would also be interesting to hear what they could come up with with Gillian and Phil on board, but without Hooky i think any release should not be under the New Order name.

With little enthusiasm on here for a new BL release apart from people hoping it would be more synthesier based than the first effort (i.e. sound more like New Order) possibly they have quietly shelved BL and are waiting to see how the gigs are received before taking the next step which could be if all goes to plan more New Order gigs next year... If Bernard could during any interviews in the coming weeks refrain from slagging off Peter Hook I think that would be a welcome development.

I used to think a New Order without Hooky was a daft concept but......I think Hooky has done himself no favours these last few years.

He has (rightly or wrongly) fully capitalised on his part in JD/NO to the max. The remaining members of NO may have just thought f*** it lets do it again without Hooky and get a piece of the action (assuming more gigs come after these charity ones).

The way this has been announced is in a very authentic "New Order" way. 2 dates announced out of the blue, no other info forthcoming. Feels kind of right and I never thought I would feel like that.

A hookyless New Order is way better than the soap opera we have all endured as sorry-assed fans these last few years.

Hooky left. There was no official split.

I would love to see him back up there as much as anyone but he has shot his bolt.

Couldn't agree more. Hooky left the band unilaterally and the threw a tizzy when they tried to go on without him. Also, as I've mentioned elsewhere, it can't be coincidence that Bernard, Steve, Gillian, Phil, the old New Order management and the old New Order road crew continue to work together whilst Hooky is the lone outsider.

Hooky was for the longest while my favourite member of Neworder and the one who seemed to care about the band the most. He is the only member of the band I've met and been out for a drink with - he was a very nice, open and generous bloke to all who came over asking him (for) stuff.

Like many, I have been saddened, angered and bored by the soap-operatic 'split' - only Linus ;) seems to have come out of it without acting like an arse at some point.

I actually welcome this Neworder v4 (approx) even if it is (so far) just for a couple of gigs to help a mate. I would be interested in seeing them if I got chance.

I've not really got much interest in watching Mostly Monaco doing JD covers, much as Old Leadfoot, Jack et al seem like good lads who genuinely enjoy what they're doing.

The ideal solution, to me, would be some form of reconciliation between the 4 true Neworder members but I don't believe in Father Christmas. The next best solution is a true split. Hooky does whatever he wants with his legacy and allows The Other 3 (plus Phil) to go about their future as Neworder, who in turn keep their thoughts on Mr Hook to themselves.

In any event, it's great to have Gillian back.

Well said. Hooky will always be my fave too and despite my reservations I too have nothing against The Light doing their thing anymore. Loads of people lap it up and this is all about entertainment at the end of the day.

I do still hanker after new material though from all of the members. If No Hook Order decide to make a go of this I hope they can pull something amazing out of the bag.

They will have a lot to prove and the spat etc may have given them an edge again.

If they do comeback for good I think they will legitimise it with new material and will not simply tour the hits ad infinitum.

I think I read somewhere that Steve Morris had started experimenting again with old "real" synths/samplers etc rather than purely computer based stuff. That and his work with Factory Floor may have given them a new lease of life.

See, this is my issue. The NO Facebook announcement has all these people hollering that IT'S NOT NEW ORDER WITHOUT HOOKY, and that's a fair point, but when Gillian left, you didn't hear a huge outcry that IT WASN'T NEW ORDER.
