Hand on heart could you envisage it happening then...

Sort of given up at Friends of mine festival gig when we heard they were recording a 2nd Bad Loot lp. Feels like a last throw of the dice

No but i hope that they do more than these 2 gigs.Gillian being back in the fold is a GREAT bonus.:hat:

Nope, not even 7 days ago. Delighted. Turns a shite year good & takes my mind off the looming tax deadline over here. The simple things in life !

I don't know, its not too surprising. This is only working because of the Light... if Hooky wasn't being successful in what he is doing with JD they wouldn't have even dreamed this... really think its Barney's way of taking a jab at Hooky, and showing "two can play this game". Really both had sidebands that failed and sounded weak, Hooky becomes successful with a reenactment of sorts... so Barney and gang say why not us? Considering the way its occurring, I really don't see Hooky ever being a part of this.... so in my eyes, what Hooky is doing with Jack and the Light is a legitimate desire to enjoy themselves and make fans happy... the new NO is some sideshow circus act, doubt Barney has the fire in the belly to endure any criticism as Hooky has with the JD thing.

So in short... I think it was predictable.... Gillian is the only wild card, but Steve's there to give the push...

So Hooky playing nothing but JD albums with a Covers band while he sings and barely touches his bass is legitimate...

While the other FOUR members of New Order, which include the New Order's lead singer and main songwriter, main drummer and programmer, main keyboardist and secondary guitarist, and latter period keyboardist/guitarist, play together and play songs they wrote together is a circus act?

Most people I know have more respect for Bad Loo than The Light. You know, Bad Loo, which contains three members of NO, wrote a new record and toured it and all. Yes, they played some JD NO and Electronic songs...but they also generally played 7 to 8 BL songs a show.

I mean, I don't know why people are upset. Hooky quit NO and seems happy playing JD covers with the Light, which is cool, and the other members of NO wanna carry on. Everyone is doing what they wanna do.

While I didn't imagine this at all (I didn't know Michael Shamberg was ill and needed medical treatment etc...), I'm not surprised that the rest of them get along with each other, and are willing to play music with each other. I'm not surprised Hooky's not going to be there either. The only things that surprised me most when I heard the news about this, was that Gillian and Phil being in the lineup at the same time, and that it's under the name New Order (because at first I thought that maybe there was/is a legal problem in using the name).

But I don't know why so many people (obviously not the people on here, but rather, other internet sites and so on) are so surprised that Hooky's not going to be there. I mean, are people really ignorant to believe that Bernard and Hooky have become good friends again, when every other interview since 2007 has one of them (or the other) stating that things have been said and done, or that they're not on speaking terms with each other?Even if many people didn't read a lot of interviews, it's still obvious that the possibility of Hooky playing music with Bernard again is very low, even pretty much impossible.

Totally agree with this, in my eyes this IS New Order, the fact that Hooky is doing his own thing and can't be arsed/hasn't been invited... well, no one can say he didn't bring it on himself... I mean, Rowetta... Really?!?!

I agree with you, but the fact is Hooky's relationship with the rest of the band has broken down as well, so it's not just a Bernard vs Hooky thing as it is often framed. See Hooky's recent less than complementary comments about Steve and Gillian calling Hooky 'horrible'. But yeah, obviously the most vocal disagreement is between Hooky and Barney but there's a split with the rest as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fully aware of that. I'm aware this isn't just a Hooky vs Bernard situation. So are most people here. My complaint is.... too many casual fans seem to think this is only a Bernard vs Hooky situation, and then are critical of the reunion (saying 'Hooky's not there' etc...).

I wonder if part of this is due to the fact that Hooky left the band and started making noise about suing everybody around 2007, which according to that Clash interview is around the time that Gillan discovered she had cancer...

(To be fair, he may not have known.)

Interesting to see how far this new NO will go... Will they end up bringing out new material under the NO name? TBH the thought of hearing rock/guitar based tracks without hooky's bass just wouldn't sound right (just my personal view - other opinions are available!). However, a more electronic sounding album.... maybe that could be ok. I loved Here To Stay and it would be cool if they made a fucked up electronica album with the Chems producing. If it resulted in tracks like HTS and Out Of Control that would be v.cool.

When I read the Clash Magazine interview, especially Gillian's comments, I had a feeling..............

Since New Order will rise and play 2 gigs, I'm assuming Peter Hook agreed and allowed Bernard to use the New Order name. I'm assuming Peter Hook wanted to release the 7 remaining leftover songs from WFTSC but Bernard said only if you let me use the New Order name and continue on with New Order in the future.

"It's a shame that, I thought Bad Lieutenant weren't bad!"

Does Peter Hook's statement mean that Bad Lieutenant will go into hiatus and the new upcoming album from Bad Lieutenant will be released under the New Order name or still under Bad Lieutenant name ?

Time will tell soon when Peter Hook will have to spill the beans on what is going on.

I always believed that the only way New Order would reform was if Gillian Gilbert was involved.

Bad Loo vs. the Light... kinda apples and oranges there. One is a weak side project making new music, while the other is a cover band started to honor the anniversary of Ian's death. If you respect new music over covered music of course Bad Loo will get the thumbs up... but if you are after live performance, than the Light would get the votes.

I'm not upset about anything in this, I simply see this as the other three's (specifically Barney's) way of jabbing one at Hooky... and for that reason I don't see this extending past the maybe a couple more concerts after the charity concerts. Actually I'd put money down that Barney will come out with a statement mentioning how they are stopping with "dignity" unlike other "people" out there, just to have another jab at Hooky.

To think this NO reunion was not spurred or had nothing to do with Hooky's success with the Light is really naive.

To think that the Light is more respected and successful than Bad Loo is pretty naive.

Oh, and Sink or Swim, Poisonous Intent. Twist of Fate, Walk on Silver Water and Running Out of Luck piss all over Pictures in My Mind and Atmosphere with Rowetta. And they are also NEW SONGS.

Doors tribute bands generally pull big crowds when they play as well.

I don't think New Order want to slight Hooky because of his covers band...

I think New Order simply want to play together as New Order again. Hooky quitting doesn't mean they are over.

One thing I couldn't see happening a few months / a year ago was my sympathies shifting completing from Hooky's side to Bernard and the others'. I don't know what goes on privately but regardless, Hooky's not managed his public relations too well throughout.

If (and it's a massive if) new order continue after the gigs and decide to make an album, where does that leave bad lieutenant? Would Barney, Steve and phil continue with that band too? I can't imagine that. Jake has a solo album out (or coming out) so would that group finish?

It's all a bit messy (too say the least). But I can see the 2 gigs being just a one off.although I would love NO to continue in any format.

I'm betting the "more electronic orientated" second Bad Lieutenant album will end up being a New Order release with Gillian playing on it.

Jake will continue with his Rambo band and solo project.

Bad Lieutenant will as such join Electronic, Monaco and Revenge as a shelved NO-side project.

Don't see this going past the charities... as stated before I think its a setup to jab at Hooky twice.

With that being said I sure hope to hell they don't ruin the NO name with Bad Loo rubbish, simply by slapping on the NO moniker....
