Hooky was very clearly not listed on the poster so fans knew what they were paying for and there still seemed to be an appetite for it. That's undeniable.

Just as there seems to be appetite for The Light touring Joy Division's back catalogue around the globe. They're both doing what they want to do. Leave 'em to it.

(And to answer the original question: nope, I didn't see it coming at all. I expected more Bad Loot shenanigans.)

I wouldn't be surprised if Bernard feels a late second (or is it 5th?) wind coming on. The Bad Lieutenant stuff was kind of a late era Electronic/WFTSC guitar rock redux. Not especially compelling, but not awful either. The songwriting dynamic will shift again, and given the rise of a new wave of indie electronic acts (Class Actress, Nite Jewel, Telepathe, Glass Candy are faves that come to mind), New Order's danceable side may be reawakened.

Agreed. So much of the minimal/synth/cold/whatever wave stuff that's trendy now got it's DNA from early NO. Try listening to the Peel Sessions version of "5-8-6" followed by "Black Leather Gloves" by Cosmetics.

Granted I do believe the charity was the reason for a concert, but it could have been done many ways. Ever seen in an argument when one person goes OUT of their way to show how THEY are the sensible one (but with one of the main prefaces to really piss off the other)... Barney really seems to be the type for that type of jab, whereas Hooky would shoot his mouth off and say something stupid instead. Just watch how this charity ends and the words outta Barney's mouth. I bet $10 he'll talk about starting it for good cause (i.e. similar to Hooky's first JD shows) and how he's the bigger man knowing when to stop and not "cash in"... $10 says he'll do it.

I'll be more than happy for Gillian to cash in too.
