Interesting to see the Chain were listening to New Order during the recording of Psychocandy.

Thanks for the link. Scientists long ago confirmed that JAMC were the second best band ever.

They also more or less swiped a riff from "Love Vigilantes" for the title track of "Darklands" (as did Ian Broudie for "Pure" and Wilco for "I'm always in love").

"Girlfriend" off Stoned and Dethroned is also more like New Order than, er, New Order.

Those new Mary Chain 2CD/1DVD reissues from Rhino are absolutely brilliant. Okay, this is the second time they have been repackaged (last time was simply remastered single disks of each album) but, even more than what they did with the Bunnymen, these are simply outstanding ......... and cheap too on Amazon....... Now why the hell couldn't New Order have done something like this? It seems that practically EVERY act that was ever on Warners (or a subsidiary. like JAMC were once) seem to have their reissues done properly except fucking shite NO.

At least JAMC can say they fookin' hate each other and still get on at times. Hell yes, the JAMC remasters (and the box set a few years back) are soooo good.

Agred the new tiple pack reissues are the dogs. The Mary Chain have always done great b sides so it makes them easy to compile everything they've done and still make it listenable. The new reissues are done by a true fan as well which helps.

New Order, Mary Chain and Spacemen 3 still three bands fromthe 80's that are still my favourite bands.

I've ordered three of the six titles from Amazon (less than a tenner each) for the time being: the other three will follow once I received the first batch.

Can't wait to receive these.... :)

THIS is what the fucking crummy Rhino New Order Factory Years remasters should have been like.

On the Psychocandy DVD, a 1985 interview for VRT in Belgium features Jim Reid rubbishing Joy Division extensively.

From the included booklet:

"Jim Reid would like to make it clear that he did not and does not hate Joy Division and the Sex Pistols. Apparently just before they went on air the band were informed that the interviewer was a massive Joy Division fan and in Jim's words, this was "red flag to a bull". Many of the comments were made with the sole intention of seeing the resulting expression on the interviewer's face".

Just ordered the other three now......i'm in for a treat!
