As good as PCL & Low-Life are. Technique from start to end is just about as good as it gets.

PCL but only in the last year or so has it leapfrogged Lowlife in my affections... I also rate Republic a lot more than I used to, WFTSC less than when it came out and, yes, the Brotherhood documentary, has resulted in a more positive opinion of what used to be one of my least favourite NO moments...

Technique is a compact 37 minutes of quality tunes. no fillers, just 9 of the best. i adore the songs and production as much today as back in 1989. i will never tire of this music. Barneys best vocals, most emotive lyrics, solid production, great beats, rifts, rhythm and vibe.

Tekkers - their best studio album and my all time fave album
Er, (the rest of)! 
Nah, it's Technique for me as well. Easily their most consistently good album. There are individual tracks off all the others I love, in some cases three or four in a row but there's some really patchy stuff too. Technique is the only NO album which maintains the same level of quality all the way through.
Next in line would be Low-life.
While it's by no means my favourite, my opinion of Movement has gone up a bit during the past decade. 10 years ago I used to think it was uttershite but I quite like bits of it now. Unlike the majority on here I enjoy Hannett's claustrophobic production too.

Times change, things move on, Mike doesn't type New Order were only ever good live (which is a very valid point).
Brotherhood always edged it for me over Low Life.
Technique.
The Brotherhood songs came across better live than the vinyl. Never a fan of ELC and Way Of Life, it has to be said.
Low-Life being the close second.

I think this is what all the reviews said about technique when it came out, all the magazines gave it great reviews and it is truly a great album, not 1 bad song on the album.
At the time I am writing this Brotherhood is getting less love than Republic!

Don't get me wrong, Republic has some good tracks, but the album as a whole? Meh.

Ok it maybe nearer the 39 min mark but it's certainly under 40 mins. My point being it doesn't outstay it's welcome and has no fillers. It's the only album (ever) that I can put back on as soon as it's finished.

I think this is what all the reviews said about technique when it came out, all the magazines gave it great reviews and it is truly a great album, not 1 bad song on the album.

Which republic is far from perfect it is sonically more pleasing to me, better produced and although a bit samey, I like it.

Unsurprisingly it's Technique for me. Utterly flawless. I have to say that PC&L is a better sounding and classier album than Low-life but I probably prefer the songs on Low-life as a whole.
Technique for me too.
I think Hooky had a good point in the Brotherhood program, that Bernard was making tracks that were leaving little room for him to write his basslines too, which is probably what a lot of people dislike about republic, they were no longer writing as a band, barney would turn up with completed tracks, steve would replace the drums and hooky would try to come up with a bass line, if the arrangement is full already then that would be tricky.
republic for me has some great tracks on both sides, but technique just has more.
I remember the episode of bergerac where it was paying on the car stereo, bunch of yuppies in a convertable BMW if I recall correctly, which I probably don't 
I love Technique, but it's almost *too* good ... such a clean, well-manicured album. I adore each of the tracks individually but I find Low-Life and P-C-L are more interesting as albums. I believe their best work came during the 1982-85 era so no surprise really... but which one? Every time I think Low-Life, I wanna say P-C-L instead. I'll say Low-Life cos I've listened the shit out of it for the last 2 weeks!
Power corruption and lies was o n the turntable for ages when it came out , same with low life, still like waiting for the sirens call. though for me,its the unknown pleasures of Movement, nothing comes Closer.

Harsh review of Brotherhood I'd say. In my opinion it's got three all time classics on it (BLT, AIIWIW, and All Day Long). And yes I am an ELC fan. Plus there are only two actually bad tracks on it, Angel Dust and Paradise. Whereas Republic, erm well Spooky, Chemical, Times Change, Liar, and Young Offender are all utter SHITE! Other than that I agree with you about Technique, their peak never to be surpassed.
PCL gets the nod just ahead of Low Life. Both outstanding pieces of work which I never tire of hearing.

Actually Brotherhood is great. When you think about it it's Closer's little brother.... Acoustic tracks on side 1 and electronic on side 2. It was the first of their proper albums I purchased after Substance came out. I remember loving Paradise, BLT, Broken Promise and Angel Dust straight off.

Me.. i never play Movement, but i do rather like that Glasto 81' bootleg where Barney was mullered. umh
Brotherhood - mainly for time n place, what it led to, bought at the time etc... Had the spring 86' tour when the 'new' songs were road tested (Shellshock always one of my faves), The Tube & Barneys shocking yellow jumper, The festival of 10th summer @ Gmex show, the September tour to round it off. A super year with The Falls 'Bend Sinister' released a week later. Happy days
