Ya know your computer already downloads it temporarily in a cache file... just find the cache file, move it to its new location and ya got it for keeps... no software needed.

For a band that didn't release records in the USA, such an extensive touring here was um... a bit strange? Most of those who attended the shows couldn't even buy their records or singles for that matter.

Thanks for the link. What is most intriguing to see is the pre-Baker version of Confusion. I don't know why Baker got a writing credit for the song. Yeah he produced it alright, but he clearly didn't write it. So basically the 1987 version a return to the original predating the Baker production.s

There isn't a 'pre-Baker' version, it was created in his studio with him present, alongside an early version of 'Thieves Like Us' (later reworked without him).

The version of TLU from this gig is about 10 mins long. A bit shambolic, but Bernard's got the basic melodies together, unlike the play at home version.

I really like this gig's version of Confusion. Great energy, more confident vocals. I keep bringing this up around here, but Bernard's vocals for me were stronger in '83/'84 than during the Low Life tours. Maybe being PFD started to take its toll on his vocal cords in '85.

Well this is a pre-Baker version because they recorded the song only next month in NYC and this is a June performance. Plus, there's an earlier version from, I think, April. And to me the 1987 version sounds more like this one.

Are you sure about that? I've never heard that story. I thought they quickly recorded their parts within 2 days in NYC in July 1983, while Baker had already had the breakbeat track prepared (and backing vocals, too).

Liking the lyrics on Thieves Like Us, any of which could have made the final recorded version

Confusion is alright but the Kilkenny 83 version is better, really builds and builds, that one

An entire show from the 1983 tour was professionally filmed but never released?

I like the white backdrop that they have behind them and the moody lighting....

Cheers Tony12Many but i have actually downloaded it all(possibly ) problem was i hadn't got the right programme to play it/ convert it/ or something like that. Downloaded the apparent required programme but it still wouldn't work so decided to forget it. Not too fussed though, haven't got the time to mess about with stuff like that, not enough hours in the day. Have watched it all on You Toob now anways

Arthur Baker gets a credit on 'Confusion' because the backing track is essentially his - very similar of course to 'IOU', which he also produced. I think I read somewhere that Steve wanted to change it, but it was very much set in stone. Great track and certainly the best version.

I never really paid that much attention to the history of 'Confusion', because I didn't really like the song.

Having said that, I do recall that New Order went over to the States to work with Baker, and as he was busy, left he band to work on the track on their own, due to him being tied up with an ongoing project. What exact part he played in this , I don't know for sure. At what point 'Thieves like us' was done, I'm not sure either. I did think they were done at the same time. But....

'Confusion' was first played live in April of 1983, 2 or so months before this Minneapolis version, and all the early live versions I have heard, sound like this one
