Through the weekend of Spetember 6th, 24 Hour Party People has grossed just over $750,000 in the US, on fewer then 35 screens -- overall a very good per screen average for an indie film. I would expect it will top out near $1 million dollars.

that's good to hear. in toronto it doesn't seem like it's going so well. everyone i know who has seen it has commented on the fact that the theatre was empty. i guess it's not all that surprising though - there was no marketing campaign backing up the release at all. what a shame.
There were quite a few people in the theater in Portland at the economy show when I saw it, I think it lasted longer than one week, which isn't too bad for around here.
I did run into the gentleman who used to sell me a lot of the Factory records back in the 80's, and who now runs Soleilmoon Records, after the show. Very nice surprise after all of these years.

did you pay the 13.50 at the paramount to see this film?
that's way too much. when i saw it in toronto, it was a wednesday night and the capacity looked like...dunno. a third of the space was filled. so i didn't think it was a really bad turn out. there was some advertising for it in the independent weeklies and there were a couple of half-page reviews of it. but the point is, its mainly a select audience who would really give a crap about this film. indie film lovers and JD/NO/happy mondays fans.
i din't pay the 13.50 thank god. i went to the "cheap" matinee on sunday so i "only" had to pay 10.50. the worst. when i went the crowd was mostly smelly record nerd types.

Is that the price of a regular ticket in Toronto? Seesh, they just dropped it here to 9.50$ in Famous Players theatres.. it was 12$, and it was outrageous, but we had competition that are still 9$..
(And for our US visitors, those are canadian dollars, so yes it's very cheap compared to your prices)
Gosh, I miss the time it was 7$ to go see a movie, and 4.50$ on tuesdays!
P/S: Matinee is 5$ to 6.50$ here 
that's the price at those mega theatre things like the paramount. i think that it is something like 11.50 at the regular theatres. still terrible.
factor in exchange though - 13.50 canadian is something like 2.00 US, so it's not as bad as it seems.
yeah...I only paid $7.50 US to see it...of course, we've both seen it twice now...so that's a grand total of a whopping $30 US I've kicked into the coffers so far!

the film just came out yesterday in orlando (finally!). i went today (sunday) and there were only about 15 of us in the cinema. it did get a write up in the local paper though, so maybe it will do okay. what a fantastic film! steve coogan was terrific as usual...saw a little bit of alan partridge coming out for a bit there, i think.
It's been open in NYC for what, a month now, and walking past the theater in the L.E.S. this past Sat Nite it I noticed that it had sold out both the 8:00 and 10:20 showing. When I saw it three weeks ago at a 10:20 Sat night showing, it was crowded, but not sold out and the earlier show hadn't sold out either, so it actually looks like it's building steam here.
