I can't stop listening to it - it's sooo good! I love that they picked up the pace, and included the backward passage from the Peel Sessions version.
I want to hear them tackle Everything's Gone Green, now!
So happy to see Steve playing an acoustic drum kit again.

Can someone please tell Phil that not every song automatically sounds better with a shedload of extra widdly woo geetar.
Is it me.. or on that Paris youtube.. at about 4mins.. Barney does the 'in the future, when you wan't me in your heart, I won't be there' lines, he accompanies them with hand signals and a V sign. Is this aimed at anyone, do you reckon?

Thought it was ace, they never realy captured the live feel of the original and this goes back to that in a way,

Was THERE and I have to say that when it kicked in it was a very special moment, brilliant....
They've taken a track of which the studio version I've never been that keen on, and turned it into the highlight of the whole set [for me]
The youtube videos don't do it justice either, sounded 10 times better in the venue.
Hoping more recordings will surface.
listening to it and watching the video I get goosebumps. Brilliant version of the song, but then again, I've always loved it. Makes me wonder if they can re-tool this one, what else can they re-tool? Further, what could they do with more synths in the studio mix???

I saw that too on the video. I wonder why he's doing these hand gestures. (Not that it bothered me or anything.) For example, in the video I saw of Temptation being played in Brussels, I saw Bernard doing hand motions too.
Oh and this live version of 586 was incredible. 
Fook me... That version of 586 was ace! Let's hope that if they make a studio album it's the same kinda stripped back electro-rock like this and not over-produced mid-tempo fluff (like hellbent, bad lieutenant etc... Just an opinion).

That would be fantastic, but I doubt it, I'd be happy if they released an album of decent live recordings of this, temptation and a few other reworked tracks.

Doing a guitar version simply does not work......in any capacity.
Neither does it being played on acoustic drums.

This new live version of the song still has plenty of live synths on it plus programmed bass. Phil plays one of the melody parts as a kind of funky guitar part, which I like. It might actually be a guitar on the original recording, it is hard to tell.
This version of the seems based more on the BBC live version than the album version I think.
Also, New Order always used live acoustic drums when playing this track live.
Speaking of which, I agree with everyone NO sound so much better with Steve playing an acoustic drum kit again.

I agree that Steve is better playing on acoustic kit (with the odd trigger pad or electronic equipment close at hand) than that Roland electronic one he's been using for ages now....
Still can't make my mind up about this version though. So used to hearing it in a particular way, I suppose that's where my judgement is based from.
I like it... 
But what I like more is that they seem unafraid to revisit something slightly leftfield and have a go at a rejigged version... All the speculation pre-gigs for as long as I can remember on here has been whether they would do something unexpected... Mini JD set at Wembley, AOC/586 here, etc. however good they might be, at least they make you go 'Fook - wasn't expecting that'...

He's still playing keyboards, too - watch some of the videos.
More hands means less sequencer lines that need to be reconstructed for their current synth setup, and/or opportunities to add new elements.
