Darkman, fuck off to JD Central or wherever. Don't let the 'door' hit you as you leave here.

Insert high-pitched nasally voice “Leave Burt alone you boring cunt.”…lmfao.. Rorschach is your tongue that far up Burt’s ass tossing that salad? Something strange is going on between you two. Two Words: Backdoor Jousters.

Now go fuck off back to your pre-1981 dark cave, in hicksville. People like you put the 'cunt' in 'country'. Wow Burt, that was pure poetry! Why didn’t I think of me putting the cunt in country. I’m just blown away with how witty you are. The old cunt in country comeback, damn how can I respond to that? I knew I shouldn’t of left my A-Game in the shop before locking horns with you. Fuck!

Leathergirl, does it really rub you that raw, that I gave Burt a history lesson. So very raw. Or is it that I don’t follow the mob mentality around here. I guess if I would of fucked with Linus everything would have been gravy. What is Burt the fearless leader around this shithole?

Bernard also managed to swear live on the Rock Around The Clock broadcast where he managed to get in "Te;; me what the fuck we should do" in Blue Monday and that was being broadcast live on BBC2 as well as Radio1. But am I bothered nope.

I wonder... if probably one of the main reason Linus got interested in New Order in the first place were that he perceived New Order to be "clean", with little sex or naughty words?

I do seem to remember him being very negative towards all rap. I think he also complained about the "playing with my pleasure zone" line in Perfect Kiss.

All this thread needs now is a bit of Team Hooky vs Team Barney aggro, presumably featuring some c-word action, descending rapidly into personal abuse and everyone getting jolly well offended...

As an aside, do you think people with a lisp refer to the c-word as See-You-Next-Thursday? :read:

The funny thing is that I bet you Steve probably read this and He and Gillian probably had a good laugh during their mid afternoon tea break or a drive back from the shopping center or something.

That's your best shot? A homophobic reference?

If you weren't such a cunt, I'd pity you.

Agreed, poor stuff, and not the sort of thing welcome on these boards. I'd like to hear his opinions on what the thread is actually about.

Dear Burt,

In the past I may have agreed with some of the things you have posted on NOOL. I just wanted to make it clear that this in no way means that I fancy you, want to have sex with you or indeed am attracted to any NOOLer whose opinion I share. Unless, of course, you are female.... And fit... And aren't easily offended...

Yours platonically,

Snorri

PS Have left the kisses off in case anyone gets the wrong idea...

The cunt word is totally overrated, isn't it? I've got a cock and you have a cunt. So if the most offensive thing in the english language you can say, relates to the female anatomy, it's a bit sad. If you do something wrong, and someone laughs and calls you a cock, no-one thinks anything about it, but if you were called a cunt, then it's different, when it really shouldn't be.

If someone says you eat maggots out of a festering sheeps arse, isn't that worse than being called a cunt?

I think Darkman eats maggots out of a festering sheeps arse, don't he?

I'm thrilled that we're finally getting to discuss the finer points of the English language on NOOL. It's something I'm very interested in and feel quite strongly about.

Anyway, to expand the topic; does anyone else use 'cunt' as a phrasal verb? I think it's probably unique to us in the West of Scotland. eg

Q. Did you manage to get the phone number of that fetching young lady?

A. No, I got pished and cunted it right up.

Similarly, the word 'cunt' is very often used as term of endearment round these parts or as a non-specific signifier. One can be a 'good cunt' meaning a thoroughly all-round decent chap. Or one may make an observation that 'there's hardly any cunt in the place' meaning that the venue/location in question isn't particularly busy/well attended. Again, two uses of the word unique to our little pocket of the UK.

All used in the exactly same manner darn sarf too.

Cunting something up, no cunt in the place, etc. And also, of course, used as a term of endearment.

See? This is what I'm talking about! Learning stuff!!! Thread of the year indeed. I've never heard it used outwith my own neck of the woods. Glad it is though.

Not particularly nice language, and I'm guilty of using it far too often, but to be offended that a rock n' roll band haven't beeped the word out of a CD is silly.

I seem to recall that the word has some significance in radical feminism. It was an empowering word re-appropriated by nasty men down the centuries into a term of abuse. Or it might be the other way round. Or it originally meant something else all together. It's been a while since I read any Andrea Dworkin.

I'm so glad this thread is not dead (or closed) yet, so I can post another New Order video with the c-word on it.

Tony: "He's a musician which means he's a mean bastard." Bernard: "You cunt. You ruined my career."

I wouldn't take offence - it's nothing new. Not sure what the whole sentence was, but it's usually just a term of endearment in this context. In other contexts, i.e. the kid's birthday party etc... it may not go down so well.. so don't play it to the kids!
