Interesting, wonder if it's a leftover from the NCAT sessions or something new they produced over the last year?

More importantly, wonder if it's more guitars or got a little bit of variation to it

Good cause. I had to scroll down and read about it b/c being a cynical Ami the CALM seemed like a fake charity. Having lost a few to suicide I regret my initial thought.

thanks for the heads up; all new songs are greatly appreciated.

Seconded. I may be in the minority but I think BL is Bernard's most consistent effort in years.

Orderized... looks to be a great compilation.

Bought the FLAC version for a tenner (and no I won't share cos it's for charity :) ).

Jake does the main vocal, nice reverberating guitar intro with recurring glockenspiel... bit of Smithsy harmonica in there as well. Basically, it's a jaunty guitar track. Wouldn't like to cast judgement immediately so I'll stick it on rotation over the weekend. I don't mind Bad Loot anyway so I'll probably like it.

Just don't expect a Stuart Price powered electro-behemoth.

Some of the other tracks sound pretty good too.

I agree, it's a very crisp guitar track. Played it a couple of times now, and I really really like it. Very catchy :)

The lyrics are a bit "state of the nation-ish" I.e. Jake and co. having a go at the state of modern Britain etc. The chorus is good; a bit euphoric. It's not bad, probably won't change any minds around here but those who enjoyed NCAT will probably like it. Those who didn't probably will say that it's yet more wishy washy geeeetar musak

Exploring the rest of the double album now.

You're quite right, Julio - that's the link. Should have put it in my original reply.

Worthy cause etc. worth a tenner at the very least.

Just placed order for CD. With shipping to California it worked out to $25.58 (£10 option).

Just bought it too (digital)

It's bound to end up on YT, so I just put it on my account in non-crappy quality.

Poor form, I reckon.

Even if the song were rubbish (which it isn't - it reminds me of "Black and white Town"), you've effectively deprived a charity of money. And, if it were 'bound to' happen, why not let someone else be the one to do the morally corrupt thing.:nonono:

Righto then, just deleted it.

If they wanted charity sales, they wouldn't have put Jake on vocals.

you guys are harsh on the man!

i enjoy all the BL songs - and i think Jake has fine vocals that sit well in the tunes - they don't have to be your cup of tea, but damn, give the guy a break! they aren't obnoxious or off-pitch or amateur-hour in any way - i could see at worst you argue they are a bit bland or too cautious...

i mean, they are DEFINITELY better than the vocals on the FreeBass lp. yeah, i know, not a high hurdle, but...

seriously, i must have an odd sense of taste, cause his vocals don't bother me at all - sweet on the ears i say!

WHO'S WITH ME!?

i love bernard , so there are no dislikes , only less endearing songs . since brotherhood , everything by new order , and almost everything by the off- shoots is real easy to like. also, i will forego my trip to antarctica and gladly buy the charity disc.

It's a good tune - I wish with digital downloads they included info on who played what.
