I know! Wonder what the chances are the posters will end up for sale?
Supporting Blur? I must underestimate Blur's stature.
I hope they don't have to lipsync like at the Commonwealth Games in '98.
Can I be the first to say:
IT'S NOT NEW ORDER WITHOUT PETER HOOK!
IT'S NOT THE SPECIALS WITHOUT JERRY DAMMERS
WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
ET CETERA
Let's face it, this gig is either gonna be free with tickets coming via a lottery.
Or it's gonna be 100+ notes instead just to get proper fans in, or folk who give a shit about the 'Lympics.

The Telegraph's highly informed thoughts on Neworder...
"New Order, growing out of Joy Division, fused that bands gloomy aesthetic to electronic dance music, the tension between their mordant soundscapes and ecstatic rhythms somehow standing in opposition to the frivolity and gaudy excess that characterised British pop in the Thatcher era. The dour Manchester combo offered an antidote to escapism, the title of their 1983 debut album, Power, Corruption and Lies indicating that this was serious music for serious times."
I suppose we should be grateful they just about swerved the "rising from the ashes of joy Division" cliche.

I can proudly say i've never bought a single Blur record in my life. Pseudo intellectual art school tossers all they are, nowt less ![]()
IT'S NOT BLUR WITHOUT A HORN SECTION, AN ANONYMOUS KEYBOARDIST, A CHOIR, AND THE BLOKE FROM THE VERVE ON GEETAR!
Hang on, wrong thread.
I do wonder what Jerry Dammers thinks to The Specials agreeing to this tawdry Tory smarmfest
If any of these bands had any integrity left it's completely gone now
You wouldn't get me there if you paid me

Nor me, they are absolute shit, just thinking I am watching the mens marathon in the day, if New Order come on about 6ish I can be back on the Motorway about 7:30 whilst Blur are banging out their banal shite ![]()
OK, so one or two (or three, or four) of blur members may be tossers, but they've knocked together a few decent pop tunes. I'd rather listen to blur's pop than the utter UTTER sh!te that passes for indie these days.
If you don't believe me, check out tunes like "this is a low".

The Specials have been touring without Dammers for a few years now, actually. He didn't want to to return to the band, from what I understand. A lot of casual fans probably think Terry Hall writes the songs, haha.
I don't see how New Order doing this show affects their integrity. The current line up of New Order includes 3/4ths of the original line up, including the band's main songwriter/vocalist/captain, plus a fellow who's been part of the band for a decade now. It IS still New Order, just minus the one fellow who quit and now has no integrity at all.
It is an odd bill though...New Order are so stylistically different from Blur and The Specials....and I would imagine their are as well, given that New Order are a lot more left field than both Blur and the Specials. I'd imagine Alex James, being friends with Bernard, offered them the gig.
Blur are ust a comedy band arent they?
The best thing they ever did was have the delectable jo guest in that cuntry houuse vid.
Mockney manc wannabees
to me they are on par with te kaiser ferritts, utter utter dogwank!

IT'S NOT BLUR WITHOUT GRAHAM COXO.... oh er wait, he's there.
I'm sensing lots of love for Blur coming from the North in this thread. Don't tell me you lot are still smarting at "Roll With It" losing the UK #1 battle all those years ago? ![]()
