Anyone has heard of this Run, run, run band?

It would seem as if Phil is not going to be at the recording of the new album by his "other full time band" (now, how can one be a "full time member" of two bands? Surely some contradiction in terms there-Huber the Pedant)

Not heard Run Run Run, but if I may continue your pedantic theme, aren't Kraftwerk "the legendary masters of electronic music"?

(I must say though I only claim the pedantic byline for the reference to the fact that one can't be a full time member of two bands at the same time. The main article and hence the bombastic "legendary masters of electronic music" monicker is by whoever manages Rx3 website)

Just confirmed on the Big Day Out bill over summer. They're the last of alltime live "must sees" but I can't help but wonder whether the BDO's the right event for them... Huge stage, young crowd bred on Gatecrasher trance-schlock. Respect unlikely. Anyone seen them perform recently?

Whatever happened to that Guy Whittingham chap, Old and Blue? Pompey was on fire with him up front...

Kraftwerk will not disappoint, whatever the arena. I've just seen them the once, but they were awesome. Don't pass up the opportunity, Depthy...you'll only slap yourself for it in later life.

Portsmouth are not my team of choice, but I understand that Whittingham went to Oxford Utd or somewhere like that as player/coach. Haven't heard anything more about him for a couple of years, so I assume he's using his PFA pension to support his local bookmaker.

Anyway, I'm glad that I've got your attention. How do you stand on sending me an Australian "Here To Stay" comp when it comes out? I can do the same for you with the Brit version if you're interested.

My trepidation with Kraftwerk doesn't stem from their live form, more that they won't get any respect from a crowd of disinterested dance yoof, largely ignorant of their place in music and perhaps perceiving them as a quartet of grandfathers knob-twiddling some low-BPM analog dawdlers. And holding up the likes of a cranking Luke Slater. The BDO is a very young event.

An example. Here's an excerpt from the BDO Forum:

Tangerine Dream do not predate Kraftwerk ('Organization'), both groups started in '67 if I'm not mistaken. They were both spacey hippy type groups with flutes at first, the electronics came in gradually.

no problem. Apparently Bartos is using the similar name 'Electric Music' now and has some new material. While surfing around today I saw some various fan sites and stuff but I must say the official site \www.kraftwerk.com is pretty amazing, it's probably the best website for a band that I've ever seen.

Well I sort of agree with a, I would agree with b, and I totally would agree with 4. But I can't talk much. I was young and dumb in the mid 1980's and missed the chance to see New Order, OMD, and Depeche Mode all in one show... my best friend went and of course I will never have that chance ever... since OMD is basically broke, Depeche Mode is now bigger than NO (in the US anyway) so any two of these bands will not play together again, let alone all 3.

Saw Kraftwerk in Sheffield in 1981 and then again in 1991 (I think those were the correct dates). As stated - they were awesome, though I'm sure they played the same set both nights. I'd recommend Wolfgang Flur's recent book about his time in the band (I Was A Robot). Great insight into Schneider and Hutter. Thought the bit about his wanking contest a bit gross though.

When i first saw them play BLACKBURN'S KING GEORGES HALL in about 81 PAUL HUMPHREYS strode into the pub across from the HALL and nobody paid him any attention at all.:D Great concert it was too with MESSAGES being brilliant at that time.

Yeah...I can imagine MESSAGES can be brilliant with those loud synths and tinkling noise.....

I thought OMD was really great, coupled with Peter Saville's artwork, etc......until they went LOCOMOTION..( trumpets?...or horns...female vocalists, etc....duh!! ...same impression when I first heard CRYSTAL....)

Whittingham was most recently sacked as Player-manager of Newport Isle of Wight after an appalling end to last season (when they got relegated from the Dr Martens Premier Division) which then segued nicely into a 6-1 home defeat on opening day this season.

The other obvious question is how involved is Gill in proceedings??? This will have a huge bearing on the sound of the album.

SWEET - Junk Culture is my 2nd fav OMD album.

kraftwerk did kick their asses by german punks in the late 70's.

and they did many things where you would say: "FUCK YOU!"
