Oh and I forgot..

Sébastien, tu vas aimer ça...

It's pretty much similar to Frente's BLT, so avoid downloading it if you don't like New Order slowed down done by a female :D

i'm just surprised that anybody would even TRY to make a song out of "shellshock" ... so... why not?

i've always assumed that "Shellshock" was written from scratch because John Hughes wanted one of their tracks on the soundtrack to be "hip"... and i remember reading years ago that they said they were awful at going into the studio and forcing themselves to write a song on demand, so maybe this was a case of them churning out a song on demand... at least that is always what i thought... might be wrong...

personally, i think 'shellshock' is a great song. not one of my absolute favourites, but i always enjoyed it (and yes, i know what your thinking, what with the connection with my avatar and all, but i genuinely like the song). 'thieves like us', now that's another matter entirely.

and that frente cover of BLT was ATROCIOUS in my opinion. :chainsaw:

I think I have to agree with Molls there. The cover by Frente chewed donkeys. I think Shellshock is a good song that nobody attempted to like, unfortunately.

i do believe they've done cheesier! i don't think it's cheesy, anyway...it's a very underappreciated song. now, 'rock the shack'. that's cheesy. so is 'thieves like us'.

I don't think a truer statement has ever been made. I have always liked Shellshock. Now Rock The Shack? The first time I heard it, I thought the CD had changed, I couldn't believe it was NO. It gets my vote for worst NO track ever.

Rock the Shack is NO trying to show their roots from the Stooges ... you gotta love Iggy and the Stooges! of course, the lyrics are very stoopid, and the addition of Gillespie's vocals seems kinda pointless... but, if they had fun, thats all that matters...

Rock the Shack seems to impress reviewers who never knew that the guys were actually in a punk band over 20 years ago... New order is not like Depeche Mode or Erasure... a lot of people think of New Order as a clone of Depeche Mode in the USA, which is a tragic shame and no less ironic...

the cover is very different. in fact, i think they just pasted shellshock's lyrics onto another song. i can't hear any resemblence to the original...which may be a good thing cuz the original sucks.:dead: that said, it's very frente! right down to the whispery sweet vocals.

Peter Hook mentioned that he liked the Frente cover of BLT, but then he said that while being interviewed on Australian radio. So I'll assume he was just being polite.

As for Rock The Shack. I agree top tune.

As for Shellshock. I liked it. Of course my friends kid me about liking the song but what can I say other then fuck them.

 Whenever the band are interviewed, you've gotta take it with a pinch of salt, ye never really know when they are ripping the piss:lol: Frente's BLT was bloody horrible! Give me Velocity Girls YSF any time:nod: As fer Shellshock...it's not that bad really, and it was the first song my wee brother Daniel could sing (he was 3) so that's quite an achievement of its own.......still not sure of the video though:evil4:

I like Depeche Mode too and it is a tragic shame that anyone would be ignorant enough to call them clones of each other, or even influenced by each other... maybe on a song or two, but that's the extent of that.

yes, but the two are always lumped together when talking about the electro-pop of the 80s...they had their success around the same time didn't they?

Yep, nearly exactly the same time. I remember back in the day, NO DM and OMD were always talked about like they were triplets from the same mother. What a mistake!

I'd rather listen to this cover tune than listen to the original shellshock... :\puke:

For those of you wondering why I hate the original Shellshock track, the reason is because it sounds like a direct mock of the music written by the latin free-style singer Noel. Sorry, but those types of songs are stuck in their time capsule. Nothing against that type of music, but I don't like to hear it much.
