It's been a year since the announcement. I don't understand why it is taking so long to get this released. It would be nice to hear some new New Order material. The fans want to hear it. I wish they would get all this legal stuff sorted out and just move on from it. Life is too short for all that nonsense.

Or legal issues. Or whatever else. Ever noticed that in the recent months, when we hear of a release date on some websites, it's listed as 'TBC' (To be confirmed)...? In other words, even those dates aren't definitive.

I keep forgetting it (supposedly) exists. Better for all of us to do so, and then get suprised by an official 'we figured it out' announcement. Plus, the new archieve site is pretty cool and keeping me interested.

Turn shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Crystal or Regret! 😈

I actually think Sirens probably will go down as a "classic" in the long run. It's certainly one of the last New Order songs where they seemed to be playing together as a proper "band" with Barney's guitars, Steve's drums and a fair bit of Hooky bass going on. Together with Turn and Who's Joe, it's one of the highlights of the final LP.
I particularly like what Planet Funk did with the track as well.
Even though it is about his bloody yacht ![]()

I think the issues are regarding royalties. Barney & Co. probably want it to be split including the current formation, and Hooky probably wants it to be split between him, Steve, Phil and Barney. I just wish it was out already, Sister+Brother was really great in that facebook from a fellow NOOLer, there's probably some other gems like Turn in it.

The current lineup of New Order haven't performed any of the songs live. So, regarding songwriting royalties from Lost Sirens, it would be between those who participated in writing it. So, Tom and Gillian would get nothing from songwriting royalties, and for obvious reasons. As for performance royalties, that might depend on whether they would play those songs live after it's release. (Given the legal issues, I don't think it's very likely the current lineup would perform any of it before it's released.)

I don't think anyone seriously thinks that Bernard is trying to get royalties for Gillian Gilbert & Tom Chapman for 2005/6 recordings which took place a full 5 years before they joined the current touring line-up. I think it's much more simple, one side isn't happy with the existing royalty division and wants more for their share. It's all but been admitted in a recent interview "I get one dollar but I want two" etc.
It will be divide between the three main members (and possibly Phil) but the hold-up is obviously percentages.

Sure, that's more likely, but I think Hooky is seen as a "collaborator" in the deal, or something similar that would mean he gets a smaller percentage.

I'm not saying that's what Barney wants, but who knows how their old and new contracts are? I've read recently that past The Cure members don't get shit for music they wrote because of the band's contract. Warner had the rights for all NO songs, but after the original band split, they could've changed it to suit other needs. It probably has something specifying that current members get a higher cut, and Hooky's defense is probably arguing that there's no current members because the band split and now there's that whole New Order Ltd. thing as a different company.

Meaning they'll make so little money from it by the time it's actually released.
Seriously, relatively so little money is made by bands from record sales, how much do they think they're going to get? Sure everyone on NOOL will buy it, well unless it's a bunch of tracks that sound like Hellbent.

But that's the reason people tour nowadays. I don't think studio recorded music is worthless. It may not make as much money but gives people something properly recorded to listen to at home or wherever. They've already said they will release it so as long as they clear up legal issues it would be silly not to release it.

Barney is pissed off at Hooky leaving and exploiting Joy Division so Barney wants to fuck over Hooky. Steve and Gillian are mad that Hooky is exploiting Joy Division for money. They make it 3 versus 1 to get revenge. They reform New Order to make money. Hooky is outraged and acts like an immature asshole, like an ex-husband furious at his ex-wife. Barney giggles (literally) like he screwed over his spouse and got to keep the house and Mercedes. Hooky is mad at Steve and Gillian for siding with Barney. Phil is probably a footnote in the precedings. The record company will not really make much money from Lost Sirens, so they don't care anymore. Not sure Bernard even cares if Lost Sirens gets released, just maybe if they can piss of Hooky in the process. Hooky is not going to give in no matter what out of stubborn principle, even if there is no profit left to be gained. Amazing that the Lost Siren tracks have never been leaked... maybe nobody felt it was worth the bother.

I would think that the ultimate revenge would be for one side to leak the album. It hasn't leaked -- no stash box from behind a sofa or in a basement has yielded tracks. It's all about the $$$.

I don't know the band members but I don't think the motives are as revenge-based as you think. Unless this is a piss-take, this is one of most ridiculous pieces of rubbish I've ever read here.
Personally I think the Hookster's cutting off his nose to spite his face, not literallly. It'll have to come out sooner or later and the longer the wait goes on, the more people'll lose interest and feel disappointed when it does appear - after all, 5 new tracks, it's a pretty low-key affair innit? Plus Hooky'll benefit cos it'll generate interest - no publicity's bad publicity and all that - oh, and money! God I wish this story'd come to its natural conclusion... PS I like Hooky.

Based on preorders I guess it'll still make a pretty penny for Warner (remember nonsense that was Total had charted) - they'll keep it from leaking. They'll also suppy lawyers. Expect it relatively soon. Maybe related maybe not, what had been the deal with the PIMM ep being delayed, also something legal? might be he's taking revenge for that (apart from the obvious fucking them every way he can).
Its fuckin new order innit, of course i'm looking 4ward to the 5 tracks i've never heard, so I for one will rush out or actually in nowadays to my computer and order the vinyl (cause i is old) and for the record (see what i did there) i like hellbent
Copied from my own Twitter account... "I think I'm sick and tired of waiting for 'Lost Sirens'. #neworder" ...that's what I wrote on there earlier. If it ever comes out, I wouldn't mind having a listen, but I wish there wasn't a vinyl to it. If it gets released, I'd ideally like to see a 'normal edition' without the vinyl, either on CD, or at least sold on iTunes or something.
Given that Hooky's just announced that he will be touring "Movement"/"Power Corruption & Lies" and announced shows in London + Manchester, I can't see how there will ever be a thaw.
It's a fucking desperate move, in my opinion.

It would mean Hooky singing lyrics written by Barney so that would turn up the heat a little bit more...
I could imagine Hooky growling his way through a song like 586 but not so sure about how he would get on with a sensitive song like YSF...

Maybe he'll get Pottsy back in? 😎
London gig is at KOKO, Jan 17th. Fairly decent-sized venue for them to fill.
Wonder what the Other Three think about this and whether they'll decide to cut him off at the pass and do more gigs themselves come 2013?
I reckon Re:Order should cover Sisters and Brothers 👍
Hooky played it at FAC251 and DJed the track several times, so we all know how it goes.

He WAS touring Joy Division. At least Joy Division don't exist anymore. He's been touring the JD nostalgia show for three years. Now he's run out of JD stuff, it's onto New Order. At least the singer of JD is dead and can't sing anymore, and there isn't a JD. So even with the whole tenuous link of Bass-Player-Singing-Songs-He-Didn't-Originally-Sing-and-Not-Playing-The-Instrument-He-Played-On-The-Records which seemed a bit of a loose connection to the original JD band, he's now in the whole Bass-Player-Singing-Songs-He-Didn't-Originally-Sing-and-Not-Playing-The-Instrument-He-Played-On-The-Records-Even-Though-The-Original-Singer-Is-Still-Alive-And-The-Band-Are-Actually-Together position.
How would we feel if it wasn't Hooky? If say, it was another band. If it was Jason-Newsted ex-Metallica touring one of their albums? It's a desperate move. Or perhaps someone who used to be guitarist in Whitesnake trying to sing some of their drivel. Think of something else to do Hooky. We don't need Faux New Order when the actual New Order are touring. And if I had to pick between Hooky and Barney singing New Order, Barneys a better singer. Always has been. It's not too far until we get the Peter-Hook-performs-The-Other-Two-And-You in 2023.
Lets not mention Rowetta fucking murdering the songs. You might as well have Lady-Gaga-sings-Nirvana.
For heavens sake, Hooky, I've never wanted you to be anything less than a success, but seeing you perform a set full of New Order songs with a bunch of mostly Sleeperblokes, singing songs you never sang, and not playing bass, is a bloody horrific idea. I've seen Frankenbands trying to cover old songs when there's only the singer, or the accountant, left, and it is a degrading sight to the songs. I don't want imagine Hooky and The Blokes trying to growl their way through "Blue Monday". I might as well go and see Howling Mad Frank down the local pub karoke over the 12".
LET IT GO, HOOKY.
Write new songs, record new songs, tour new songs, and play some old ones at the same time, and I wish you every success in the matter, but STOP LIVING IN THE PAST, stop selling bricks and bits of ground up old beer cans from a club that closed 15 years ago, and stop trying to make a buck out of being the worlds only tribute act to Who You Were Thirty Years Ago.
If I wanted to see New Order, I'd go see New Order.

^^ Exactly. Peter Hook is and always has been an artist/musician, and IMO, for any artist or musician, creation should always be at the core, rather doing your own retrospective of yourself. Create something new and embrace the inevitable changes in technology when it comes to music, and only then you can be young again... seriously.
I am very eager to hear these songs.

Well said mark, a genuine post if ever there was one.

Two stores which are legit HMV and RECORDSHOP are showing the release date now at OCT 29 2012, again it could be wrong like the hundred times before.

That is hopeful news, though it looks like their both UK sites, so who knows when it would get released in the US. Hopefully it will be available electronically.
So the 26th and the 29th October on the above links and 30th October on this one: http://www.recordstore.co.uk/recordstore/recordstore/The-Lost-Sirens-CD-RELEASE-DATE-TBC/1186E0000000 Is there something in the air?

Sounds like a confident statement from MTV. Wonder if the legal stuff is sorted... Maybe we'll see something on the 'news' page soon.
Any confirmation from the band would be welcome. If true, it should be all over Newordernow.net.

I've been keeping an eye on Recordstore for a few months now. They seem to change the release date every two weeks! I do hope there's finally some truth in this. Did Barney say it should be out by the end of year? Getting close now.

Release of EP "The Lost Sirens" songs unreleased New Order release had been postponed due to circumstances to be released last year, but finally decided!
Still got my order with Amazon which i placed 21st November 2011 at £12.95. Nowt updated on there so won't dust off my turntable ready to play the vinyl just yet

The band's drummer was unaware of a release agreement as recently as last Tuesday, "Don't hold your breath, I'd be very surprised if this has been cleared for release."
What is holding up New Order ‘Lost Sirens’ album re-release?
The record company decided with the others blessing who I’ve not seen for years, to put the Lost Sirens out without doing a license, and I was like where’s the licence? They want to put Lost Sirens out and they want to do a box set of the New Order singles at the same time. But I’ve still not seen the agreement so it’s not me holding it up, it’s the record company. It’s sad really it’s the lack of communication between us lot, that’s the problem they won’t talk and they won’t meet so it has to be really. When you’ve been together since you were 11 everyone just goes can’t you sort it out? But the others will not meet or negotiate.

A singles box set eh? Time for Warners to consider an approach to 50 Pound Note for those FLAC's of his Recycle project?..
I don't think there's any need for a singles box set (or even an LP with the exact same songs as Lost Sirens with the CD etc)...I just wish they could release it someday and get over it.
Surprised no one's mentioned this yet.

A box set 'Recycle' was touted back in '98 and there were even official T-shirts at the gigs, but ultimately (according to Tony Wilson) 'it just didn't make financial sense'. Instead we got that Retro set that included World and not Thieves Like Us, work that one out. I'm just glad this fucking thing's coming out, that way we can slag it off and then forget about it. 6 songs as good as Jetstream! I'll buy it of course because I'm a tart. People see me walking down the street and say 'That guy is a prime contender!' Sometimes they forget to say 'ender' at the end. Incidentally, anything on those full-length Control instrumentals? A year ago Hooky was playing with the idea of a Sirens - Cuntrol compilation.

At least now we can listen to the songs, instead of constantly talking about it. (Ironically, the artwork is more artistic than WFTSC itself...)
This collection of music has been a source of severe tension between both Hooky and New Order. From what Ive read the dispute has been centered around the distribution of royalties. I dont want to take sides so can someone stick it on a torrent site for me once they have it?
First of all after a WHOLE year of all of this hoopla of going back and forth, this cd better have some good songs on it and they should release a single of the lost sirens with some remixes, all I know is that it better be worth all of this wait. Hellbent could have been made into some really good remixes if they tried. Mark Knight would have done an amazing job with it.
The release date for this title has recently changed. As soon as we have official notification of an accurate release date we will update this page. It is still available to pre-order in the meantime. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

It says the release date is November 6, 2012!!
Now Amazon says January 22, 2013 :(

You do realize that the date isn't being pushed back, don't you? There isn't a release date, and Amazon is trying to keep anyone who pre-ordered from canceling their order altogether.
As has been stated many times already, until there's an official announcement from the band via their website, you can ignore any release dates posted by Amazon.

Just wait for the official announcement from the newordernow.net,the band themselves or the people from the record company.

We've already got the Low-life out-takes and they consist of an 18 minute version of Elegia, a rough instrumental version of Sunrise and four half baked & badly recorded instrumentals for the Salvation! soundtrack. They're out there - some are even on the 2008 reissue bonus disc - so go and find them if you want to hear them.
I'd rather hear Lost Sirens over that lot by this point. I don't think it will be an earth shattering collection of music but I'll give it a chance nonetheless. As New Order fans all we've had since 2006 bar some minor side project activity is heavy nostalgia and retreads of past glories. Something "new" should be grasped with both hands, in my opinion.
You never know, it might have something to get your foot tapping.

Excited is probably the wrong word, I would say curious more than anything else.
At the moment LS is looking to be the final collaboration between Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris and Peter Hook.
After following the band for 20-30 years (15 in my case) if that doesn't deserve a listen then I don't know what does ![]()

Strictly speaking the Salvation session was a seperate thing a year or so later, however the original 'Let's Go' WAS part of the Low Life sessions (also in circulation in various slightly different versions).

I reckon when it comes out we,ll be able to make a great sirens album. Wftsc could do without jet stream, this should have been single only. Overtime should have been b side only and morning night and day is my least favourite no record and should have never been released. So if lost sirens has 3 good tracks as good as wftsc, Krafty or turn we,re on a winner.
Remember lost sirens is not wftsc outages it was going to form the next album.
I've lost interest since the new material was announced really. Remember it had been the band's creatively weakest era and the two songs we have confirmed aren't promising - let's face it, hellbent is weak and we wouldn't be listening to it twice if it were by any other band and tle less is said about ITYS the better. I'll probably be buying it, but more of a sense of duty than anything else. Of course, they may yet surprise.

For me, Hellbent is, by New Order standards, poor, it would have made a decent b-side but of the 6 songs on Lost Sirens we have yet to hear there will surely be at least two really good songs, maybe two fairly good ones and two weak ones....😕

It's a solid track, but I don't think it was appropriate to it tack onto the end of the Total "best of" compilation.
I can't imagine it fitting in on Republic or Technique. It sounds more like Twisted Tenderness-Brutal-Get Ready era to me.
Hellbent a "strong" track?

A good point indeed and personally I can't take Rowetta seriously as it sounds like some kind of weird parody musical (oh crap, I don't want to give Hooky ideas about Joy Division The Musical). Having said that no one stopped Frusciante touring Joy Division and he did an OK job of it. It will be interesting to hear the new Face Up if Hooky gets as far as the Low-life Brotherhood tour, although by then he'll have fallen out with Rowetta and had to recruit another X-Factor wannabe... ![]()

I received the same email this morning. Meh.![]()
I almost don't care if it comes out or not. The way I see it is that Hooky is holding a record I've never heard by a band I love ransom to please his bank balance : why not, for example, release it, and have ALL the royalties held in Escrow pending any court case settlement. It's been over a year since the first release date, and a year long world tour by the band (the longest tour they have done since 1987) which could've promoted the album didn't. Well. When it comes out, I'll buy it. Until then, I won't.

AH, but markreed - that would require... (shock, horror)... COMPROMISE! Great idea, though.
Who really cares. Every New Order release has been 'lame', they have always been a live band ![]()

it's kind of like missing your favourite football team's match the night before, they won 1-0 but all the reports say it was a really crap game won with a really crap, scrappy goal. But you still want to see the goal.
Absolutely! With Hellbent (Brutal's retarded little brother) as the fanfare no one's expecting an epiphany. But 6 songs is far from negligible given that they were never the most productive band in the world. I'm doubtless gonna buy it, give it a few listens then file under 'Revenge'.

I think some people are misunderstanding why these tracks exist. They aren't necessarily the weakest tracks from the Sirens' sessions. They're tracks from a lengthy period of writing and recording that didn't fit with what was released on the LP. If you didn't rate that album, maybe that bodes well for these tracks.

Intriguing logic Sir! I'm actually looking forward to these tracks, I just wish they'd bleedin' come out.

on that basis, stop contributing to this thread and get back in your shed!!
I don't reckon we'll ever see LeftOvers...
Unless poweroftrucking or 50quid are allowed to release it into the blogosphere.
The new LP sounds faaaaar more exciting.
Left overs will just be the death throws of the Hook era... Interesting, but not the end of the world if never heard.

Why?
Personally I would love him to resurect Monaco - I would definately go and see that
being advertised on ebay from a German outlet and they have already sold one copy with Jan '13 release date !
A friend of mine received an email from digitalstores telling that the order have had to be cancelled. Does anyone know something about that?
captain solo wrote: being advertised on ebay from a German outlet and they have already sold one copy with Jan '13 release date !
Bullshit. If the seller had an actual photo of the cd or vinyl and not just a copy and pasted picture of the artwork i'd be convinced
now Amazon.co.uk seems to be offering the cd by itself also, cd edition.
Sorry to state the obvious but wouldn't it be better to wait for an official (ie band / record label) announcement rather than all these websites? I still remember all the HMV bullshit on 'The Best Of Electronic' - at one point they said it was imminent for release (on a Thursday!) but no info... Let's take this with a proverbial pinch of salt.
As of June 2012, the album is currently unreleased due to a legal dispute between the band members.

- the dispute is resolved as per Hooky's tweet posted/quoted further back on this thread on 11th October.

The wife wants the Stooshe album but that appears to be being pushed back again and again.

New Order - The Lost Sirens

"Hellbent" features on "The Lost Sirens" in it's original non-radio edit form and "I Told You So" is a previously unreleased mix. All mastered at Abbey Road by Frank Arkwright, artwork by Studio Parris Wakefield. A CD of all tracks is also included within the Vinyl package.

Great news, an album in 2013 and maybe another in 2014. From first listen sounds pretty good, looking forward to the physical release. Hopefully a small uk tour next year and maybe just maybe they,ll make friends with hooky again
They should release a single off of The Lost Sirens. I'll Stay With You sounds pretty damn good. I'm pumped this is their first major release since I became a fan!!

Thanks. at least we know it is coming out because the 30 second snippets are out.
Well, I'll be damned. I actually like these-- musically, anyway. The lyrics (from what I can hear of them, anyway) seem to be more of the 'hey man, you're my brother' stuff, which I can take or leave. If these were instrumentals, I'd love them.
Hmmmm, "i'll stay with you" sounds ok-ish... apart from that, I think I'll pass.
Keepin' the faith though and hoping their next proper album will be a good 'un.
Hmm I can definitely tell that they are DEMOS!Very stripped down production etc. It's a shame we never got to hear them finished, more people would probably like them. They certainly aren't bad though... but I see them as the link between WFTSC and NCAT with their simplicity and more rocky feel.I've had it on order on Amazon for what feels like about 2 years. I ordered it on vinyl at the time, haven't even got the record player set up anymore! The mix of "I Told You So" reminds me of Movement-era New Order with the drums. A zillion miles away from the white-boy reggae version I'm used to hearing!
I wish someone would bloody boost the size of the default font on this forum.

I've heard demo versions by other artists that are far more stripped down than these songs. But I'm not too disappointed. I ordered the CD only version, by the way.
Sounds like what you'd expect if sirens had been two discs instead of one; pretty good, not amazing though. Overall nice stuff, very glad it's finally on it's way.

I really like the mix of 'I Told You So'. It is the Stuart Price AKA Jacques LuCont mix that was originally out on the 12x12 vinyl campaign about six years ago.

isn't that "Blue Monday" ? (the most depressing day of the year) Or is that the third Monday in January, traditionally?
The tracks sound a load of bobbins from the clips but that was to be expected. The point is Hooky's attempts to block the release have failed, that's all that matters. New Order 1 Hooky 0.

Fair point Coops. And at the risk of sounding a bit "UN", surely it's better to come to an agreement than to win a battle...
Has anyone else noticed that Republic, Get Ready, and Waiting for the Sirens' Call are now out of print, at least in the US? Bodes well for the London years reissues.

It's the Stuart Price remix of the tune - far better than the original mix (which is something not so hard to achieve).
I am surprised that it is only a month away and no mention of it on Newordernow.net or any news of a single to be released or played on the radio off Lost Sirens, usually a month before it's release they have something to listen off the album, hopefully the Guardian will have the album preview before it's release, i am still very excited to listen to it.
I seriously doubt there will be any singles.
There were none for Total.
It'll be the album and that's it (I bet).

That's correct. There won't be a single release to support LS. I have asked this question.
Just keep knocking out those hits eh? Just being a clitoris (a bit of a cunt), I'm excited about this. With ITYS and HB as the trailers I wasn't expecting much, but the snippets sound pretty nice and to be honest there really aren't a huge number of actual songs (despite the plethora of remixes, live recordings, rererereleases etc) so 6 newbies is fine by me. PS I didn't expect a single which is cool (I like the 'one-off' mentality) and uncool (some tracks work better remixed eg Republic's lack-lustre singles). PPS What’s the difference between Indeep and Jacintha Saldanha? Last night a DJ saved their life. (sorry)
"Lost Sirens? Well, it’s not really lost," drummer Stephen Morris said in a statement. "I remember that Martin Hannett once had an idea of making a record and burying it in his garden, so that one day someone would dig it up, like a time capsule. We just stuck our record in a cupboard. And now we’ve got it out."
"When we did the first one ['Waiting For The Sirens Call'] we had 20 ideas for songs - we were going through a particularly prolific phase – but we couldn’t make a double concept album out of them all, so we thought we’d just do two instead," he added.
He continued: "The intention was always to write four or five more songs and then put it out 18 months or so after the first one. When we unearthed it from the cupboard recently, with the intention of re-editing some of the songs, we all agreed they didn’t actually need it, and it should just be out there. So here it is."

I would not mind it and would love to do it but I doubt that they would let me do it anyway, thanks for mentioning it.
Maybe they don't want to publicise it too much as it could come across as a cash-in.Given the ill feeling towards "The one who left" from fans it could be a wise move, particularly because1. It isn't an album2. The songs never made it past demo stageIf what New Order say is correct though they are meeting around about now.. to discuss and maybe start writing a proper new album. In the meantime I think we should take Lost Sirens for what it is. A collection of demos carried over from the 2004 sessions which never made it onto WFTSC.

If Hellbent was a demo song then it was an AMAZING demo song, by listening to the clips of the other songs they sound good to me also.

It certainly does say something when the band won't promote an album of new material yet will go as far as appearing on BBC Breakfast to promote yet another compilation (Total) of available stuff we all already have fifteen fucking times over.
I don't think they wouldn't promote Lost Sirens because they were worried it would be a "cash-in" rather because they simply couldn't be arsed.
The level of legal and inter-band (Hook-era) politics hindering it all probably contributed to the overall apathy "We're a bunch of fat old men arguing," indeed.
Can't say I entirely blame them; it's been a farce from start to bloody finish and I suspect messrs Sumner, Hook and Morris know that.
Still, I'm looking forward to it and will approach the material with an open mind.
They're still my favourite band and that counts for a lot despite all the bullshit.

Being a demo is not exactly a bad thing, since the Let's Go demo sounds better than the final mix and most stuff from Republic onwards.

They're not demos, they're either finished or nearly finished tracks from the sessions.
Just clearing that up.
In retrospect, I really like Hooky's idea of including the unedited instrumentals from the "Control" soundtrack along with these "Lost Sirens." Too late to voice my opinion I realize, but they would have made for a complete album anyway.

Saving them for companion album, Lost Control.
I don't see how anyone could listen to those previews and think they're demos. Wouldn't demos sound more unfinished and stripped down than what we've heard? And the band have made it clear that they're not demos.

I agree with you Leather Girl, they sound well produced and finished tracks.
maybe they were unfinished tracks.
they needed some final mastering and cleanup and editing. and they might have started off as demos.
anyways, i pre-ordered the new order release... from a gift card i got for amazon.
first time for everything, i usually wait until its out. or get a promo.
but i have a feeling it might be hard to get one for this.

Contrary to my last post, there will be NO promotional cdr's or digital downloads for selected press and/or fansites, had official confirmation of this yesterday.

I guess that means there will be no interviews or reviews in magazines also, I guess since they are not together anymore they probably want to avoid the same old questions and stay away from saying stuff about each other. Still I think people will buy this album and it will sell well out there.

Of course there will be reviews and they may not be kind, but this release will cause a lot of awkwardness I feel because of the strained relations between Hooky and the rest of the band, for example, will there be a launch party for the album, will all of the band attend? Will they pose for pictures together? Is it even safe to put Hooky and Bernard in a room together?

Records usually leak via torrent downloads, and there have been 3 fake releases so far. All came with a password-protected zip folder with a file that leads to a survey website, which asks that you buy a mobile game in order to download a file with the password 😂

Ha! I got caught out by one of those fakes about 2 months ago, I downloaded the zipped file which contained 102mb which would be just about right for 8 songs? but when I tried to open it I knew I had been sold a pup...Serves me right for trying to steal a march and get an exclusive preview 😈
I would have purchased it anyway..I swear..![]()
Linus Solanki wrote: Now Amazon.co.uk is offering the MP3 download as well.
Interesting; that may be the quickest way to hear these songs in full, with a release date of 11th January according to your link Linus. The physical release isn't expected until several days after that as far I can tell.

What an utter fucking disgrace! I had no such problems getting hold of 'Hellbent'...

That's a shame. But Linus, why don't you apply to be their moderator? You're ahead of everyone with the latest news anyway and I think you'd get a kick out of it. Seriously.
I would not mind it and would love to do it but I doubt that they would let me do it anyway, thanks for mentioning it.
Seriously, you should send them a resume. They need a dedicated admin. The site was okay with updating during the tour but it has been really neglected since November (save for the post about the Festival Awards a couple of weeks ago). I think it took the admin there a month to note that, oh yeah, the US tour was now finished. I get that NO has been on a well-deserved break, but their people need to update it more frequently-- not necessarily every day, but a couple of times a week to keep the traffic up. I've quit checking it because there's never anything new there. The lack of info about Lost Sirens is head-scratching.
Well... Not to be a smart arse but it Is NEWORDERNOW. Perhaps they cannot promote it on that site. Legal crap.
This store claims to have it in stock: http://www.diversevinyl.com/news.php?id=f494c03a14ba2ca4900e80504ee631c6

I don't really buy that excuse...it doesn't seem as likely for some reason.

It's possible, although if Hooky's getting paid, I doubt he'd care. More publicity=more units sold=bigger payout for Hooky, and since he doesn't pay for NON, it's free publicity for him. (Which actually may be why the site is staying quiet on this.)
Granted, I have zero clue what the final deal was that allowed this release to happen, so who knows.
Well, maybe now that NON stuck it to Hooky by getting it released, they want to stick to him by making sure he gets as small a payoff as possible.
Not surprised about the lack of promotion. It's an 8 year old album of outtakes really- Something only "hardcore" fans care about.
Although I am sure we will get a brace of mid Jan interviews from Peter working the "last real New Order album" angle.
Still- Really looking forward to hearing it and very glad it's nearly out.
Yeah I think if the roster hadn't changed this would be promoted a bit more. I imagine it could be confusing for casual fans who saw the band live last year, seeing what they think is a new New Order album from the people they saw live.
Sage_ wrote: I think if the roster hadn't changed this would be promoted a bit more.
If the roster hadn't changed it would have been completed as a proper album and probably released in 2007.
After they had finished their 2006 touring commitments.
Not to be.

If only. Just imagine, by now, we may have even been looking forward to their 10th studio album being released in 2013.

No idea why, I ordered it 2 days ago from DiverseVinyl who claimed to have it in stock. Unless the indie record stores have received them early and are trying to out do the big chains by selling them before the release date.

Their Facebook page has updates about the release, although short and curt. Intresting thing is, it also has an update on one of Hooky'a book signings. And almost a million likes, which is probably why it's more important to the management/record company than a webpage.
Just got mine from Piccadilly Records this morning. They must have had a few copies in early. Listening now. Enjoying Recoil quite a lot. I'll post a brief review in a bit. Hoping some others get copies today too!
'Give me all that i ask, some Californian Grass, bring it over to me, i want everything that i see, we could stop at a grocery store, buy a drink for a few dollars more'! AMAZING!!! Classic Barney!!

Yikes the wait is killing me , I guess I have to wait till the 14th to hear it, glad you got to hear it. Listening to the 30 sec clips. all the songs sounded pretty good to me, can't wait to hear the whole songs.
Its pretty good. A lot of it i prefer to WFTSC. If they had finished it properly as planned i think it would have been a preferable album. Seems they put the more accessible tracks on WFTSC. These are still pretty commercial sounding but a bit weirder. SO much better than Jetstream or Working Overtime. We'll all be playing the Ultimate WFTSC game now, i've started, its a bit tricky!
I'll stop going on about it, imagine its quite annoying if you're longing to hear it! Hope someone else gets a copy today, interested to hear opinions.

Why is the release date for the U.S. January 22, according to Amazon and a few other sites? I want to get mine the 14, I don't want to have to wait for the 22nd.

Got the album today and given it a few plays. It is ok but a bit of a nothing album , and I would say it is easily the weakest New Order album to date. The album reminds me of 'Very' by The Pet Shop Boys, it has a 1990s outdated electronic sound to it. My biggest let down is the lyrics, they are just lazy and nonsense on most of the songs. Strongest tracks are'Californian Grass', 'I'll Stay With You' ,and 'I Told You So'.
Arse. Forgot I ordered this from Rough Trade when it was first announced (however long ago that was). Hence my £18 Vinyl/CD package arrived today, and my identical (and far cheaper one) ordered a few weeks ago will no doubt arrive tomorrow!
so, some already received their copies, and yet amazon delivers only in 10 days? why did I order there? not that I expect something groundbreaking, but I'd still like to listen to it once.
So basically some people are getting it 10 days before the rest of us have a chance?
A bunch of us are sitting here like mugs with good-faith preorders ffs.
Total. Shambles.
EDIT: Cancelled my Amazon pre-order. I'll buy it directly from HMV Oxford St on the day.
and still no sign of it at the usual places on that internet everybody is speaking about.
am at a bit of a loss here, Amazon is saying the Vinyl+ CD edition i ordered in November 2011 is now unavailable, HMV say that Vinyl + CD edition deal is available but are charging about £7 more than that original Amazon deal though and not released until the 14th. Phoned a record shop in Birmingham (Swordfish on Temple Street ) and they say they don't have it.Couple of other record shops in Birmingham i haven't phoned yet (The Diskery being one). Could order from places people have posted links to but don't think i'd get it any sooner than the 14th 'cause i think they not UK... I particularly want the vinyl. Will phone those remaining other 2 records shops in Birmingham tomorrow Saturday morning and maybe take a train ride over if there's a chance of good luck
For those with an early copy, this seems like a great software to rip the songs: http://www.goodkatshare.com/kat-cd-ripper.html
I'm not saying one of you should pirate and spread it, but most of us already bought it, it'd be just so we can finally listen it.

'Very' by PSB was a lot more electronic-pop than any of the previews on that German site, so I'd say that's an exaggeration. As for the lyrics, dodgy lyrics didn't start in that time, so I don't understand why everybody's so surprised, or complaining about the lyrics; it's Bernard Sumner- what do you expect? It's so strange that a lot of people are slagging off his lyrics as if they realised just now, when there were dodgy lyrics on BL's album, WFTSC, Get Ready, etc

Got mine from the same place yesterday too. Interestingly, Amazon are now listing the Vinyl + CD version again this time for £13.66!
It's been many years since I listened to a new NewOrder album on vinyl for the first time!
BTW, is this one of those secret underground releases where no-one actually knows its out, done in a Factory kind of way? Even the record company Rhino/Warners dont mention it on their web site!
Just went to order from that Diverse Vinyl and it states they are now out of stock.Phoned those record shops in Birmingham but no luck
