My immediate thought was Orgy's cover, since American audiences would be familiar with it.
My initial thought was it was the Orgy cover, but by the time I realized it was BM the commercial ended.

Totally Killer (2023) has two full minutes of BLT (Shep mix) on its soundtrack. The IMDB score may be an unremarkable 6.5 but Rotten Tomatoes gives it a crtics score of 87%.
It's like a cross between Back To The Future and Scream with a hint of Mean Girls. All three of those films are actually mentioned in the dialogue, I guess in an attempt to beat us to the punch with a "yes, we know".
Our heroine, Jamie travels 35 years back in time in an attempt to stop her own mother (and three friends) being stabbed to death in a "Scream" style stabbing. Her mother and friends are known as The Mollys because they all dress like Molly Ringwald. So it's perhaps approriate that as Jamie arrives at a party, New Order is playing when somebody says: "There they are: The Mollys".
In Back To The Future, Marty McFly travels back in time by 30 years to 1955, so this is actually a longer time gap, as Jamie jumps back to 1987. A great New Order year!
Jamie gets to explain to the 1987 people that she's done a "Back To The Future" to stop a murder, but the cops don't believe her, of course.
This isn't the first "back to the 80s" time travel movie to use BLT; we had Hot Tub Time Machine back in 2010. That also had Echo & The Bunnymen's "Dancing Horses" on that soundtrack, whilst this film has "The Killing Moon" which is kind of appropriate.
Oh there's also a really cool Scream-style murder done to Shannon's Let The Music Play. If you like that sort of thing.

However I think Jims memory is failing him as Life in a Day came out before Unknown Pleasures.
Some similarities in a way with New Order but then different trajectories in the mid 80s. I travel & Theme for great Cities still hold up well today. The Bass player was kicked out as well!
This is pretty random. Julian Casablancas singing "Bizarre Love Triangle" lyrics during The Strokes performance of "You Only Live Once" at the Roskilde Festival in 2006. New Order didn't perform at the festival that year so I'm unsure as to why he was referencing the group. The song starts at the 22 minute point in this video with the lyrics popping up a couple of minutes into it.
How I stumbled across this was through searching the Dime a Dozen site for New Order concert recordings. This Strokes gig was in the results with a note about the lyrics. I checked YouTube for a clip and, voilà!
Think this has been mentioned on here already ( by Debaser?) , brief few seconds of Shellshock intro in Maxxxine. Watched it last night. Possibly one of the worst films i've ever seen. Utterly lifeless. I like Mia Goth, but even she seemed totally bored in this . Apparently X and Pearl are superb films ( also featuring Miss Goth) and Maxxxine is the final part of the trilogy. But all involved ,(including Elizabeth Debicky and Kevin Bacon too) with Maxxxine should be ashamed of themselves.
Classic Pop:1985 magazine. PH Low-Life interview, usual stuff. Golden days before we started taking too many drugs and turned into arseholes. No mention of Gillian, just how effortless everything was before BS turned them into a synth band and didn't allow PH to rock out lol. Also how they recorded it fairly live/rough and didn't over-analyse.

This YouTuber interviewed Hooky back in 2020 (I think) and has periodically posted parts of the interview in various uploads. This is from the same interview, I think.
Not sure if he keeps using new bits or not but I think there are five or six videos which use the same interview.

I think Perspex raised it first and then I had a look and reported back here. There is a vacuousness and a sleaziness about it that reminded me of Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls. i didn't hate it, but it was difficult to like the main character - which tends to make things tricky. Fair warning: If you didn't like Maxxxine, you might not like X or Pearl either. I must admit, athough I've seen all three, I wouldn't rush to watch any of them again.

As far as I can see, this article has just cherry picked 4 tracks from the original 10 chosen. With the possible exception of the Killers (who I stopped liking after Hot Fuss), this is a pretty good list, albeit there's nothing to make me say "Who? What? I must investigate further!". When Steve does these sort of things, there's usually something I wasn't aware of before... Pretty sure either Fotz or Perspex posted about this back in 2016, and I could probably use the search function to find it here. But I haven't!

I'm not surprised. Far Out Magazine seems to have a history of lazily reusing old material. The fact that it was incomplete, and nothing was in Bernard's words, didn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Seen this now. Flight Risk Directed by Mel Gibson, starring Mark Wahlberg (the pilot) ,Topher Grace and Michelle Dockery. The IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes scores are bad, but I thought it was a reasonably entertaining bit of streaming nonsense.
The first time we hear BM in the film, I actually did an audible chuckle. I won't spoil it by saying why. It is quite a comedic film in places. Mark Wahlberg, of course, used to be Marky Mark, who had a big hit with Good Vibrations in 1991 with Loleatta Holloway, a couple of years after Black Box had sampled her for Ride On Time. And now he's singing BM in a movie. Random observations from me.

Anyone know where the faux-NO music bed is from? Sounds like someone used those BM parts that were on the internet and did their own re-edit. But also added the TPK frogs at 20:55? Maybe they got the frogs from some other random recording?

Meanwhile Andy, can we trust you to compare the two NO tracks - time signature, track length, key, background noise etc? It's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it.
Oh also just a thought, considering NO had the idea of the machines playing their music for them in the encores back in the 80s, is this a bit "full circle"?
