Probably this is the same Jolene from the Dolly Parton song:
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you please don't take my man Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene Please don't take him just because you can Your beauty is beyond compare With flaming locks of auburn hair With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green Your smile is like a breath of spring Your voice is soft like summer rain And I cannot compete with you, Jolene He talks about you in his sleep There's nothing I can do to keep From crying when he calls your name, Jolene And I can easily understand How you could easily take my man But you don't know what he means to me, Jolene Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you please don't take my man Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene Please don't take him just because you can You could have your choice of men But I could never love again He's the only one for me, Jolene I had to have this talk with you My happiness depends on you And whatever you decide to do, Jolene Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene I'm begging of you please don't take my man Jolene, Jolene, Jolene

also done by One Dove on their Why Don't You Take Me CD Single....not nearly as good as Dolly's version.

The SoM is v. good.
Also, the White Stripes did a fantastic version at Glastonbury. Mr. White sounding extremely heart torn.

Not a patch on the Sisters' take of Gimme Gimme Gimme A Man After Midnight, which was truly frightening on the one and only occasion they played it live (Leeds 84).
SOMs He's Got the Whole World In His Hands and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life were rather effective too...

I've been trying to find this. I don't suppose you'd have an mp3 of it that you'd be kind enough to share?

Afraid not Dave. I've only got a really shit version on a horrible old bootleg tape. There is a Sisters site called Black Planet that had an MP3 version, but I never downloaded it.
Perhaps Steve is responsible for the lyrics and singing "Jolene" just sounded better than "Gillian".
