Thanks, Mr Cat. Do you know if it will be on CD as well as the yellow vinyl? I don't really mind either way but if there's a CD, I'll 'ave it. And do you know about contents? It sounds as though the full Hot Chip mix won't fit on the vinyl, so it would be nice if the full thing is on a CD release...?

Cheers!

Should think it'll definitely be on CD as there's the slipcase designed to hold all CD singles from the album

Who started this vinyl time limit rumour?

Jump back to posts #3 and #4 of this thread. The 12" artwork shows: "hot chip remix vinyl edit". We have been assuming that it's been edited because it doesn't fit. But that may not be the case. Maybe it's been edited to make it more collectible...

Or maybe they wanted to have some nice large grooves on the record at 45 RPM for maximum sound quality. And that certainly would cut down on the time available. THIS ARTICLE suggests that the optimal time for a 45 RPM 12" is 9 minutes (maximum 15 mins).

For what its worth, the Restless 12" plays at 33rpm. At that speed the full Hot Chip mix would easily fit..............Maybe its different on yellow vinyl?

Was this song around a long time before the album? Sorry to ask what might be an obvious answer.

Not that i know of no.First any or most of us heard it was when the album was released (or a few days before) What makes you say that? I think the title was around for a year or so but that's about it. The two songs that had been around for a year or more in live form are Singularity and Plastic.

Anyone have or heard this yet? Is it the same version as the 4:17 regular single mix?

That promo is a 3'40 edit, so different.

Cd & Vinyl bundle from Mute.

I note the CD includes the Extended Mix 2 that appeared on Juno as mentioned earlier. Think I'll wait for the CD.

all of them sound disco-ey, especially the last mix.

too bad, it's 30 seconds from the beginning, which is mostly beats... not the actual song.

I received a copy of the promo CDr today and can confirm it's basically a fade-out edit of the 4:17 Single Version with the lyric "Whenever I feel low" repeated and faded.

The tracks are identical up until 3:29.

Got the 2 track release a week or 2 back, can't say I'm that impressed, the Hot Chip remix seems to suck all of the life out of the original and go on for what seems like an eternity, and the edit seems like a botch job too, I'm not going to bother with any of the other mixes.

hot chip only did a couple of the mixes. the rest are by different mixers, you can here parts of them from the samples above.

some might turn out to be good, you never know.

The single mix has been on rotation on R6 (as reported here already by others) for a few days now, I heard it for the first time twice yesterday. I must say, and I'm not sure if this is because I'm very fond of the album mix, but it seems to be a pretty sloppy cut: old-school radio-friendly single fair; get the run time down, cut out a lot of lead-ins, make sure the chorus gets exposure. Again maybe it's because it removes a lot of stuff I like from the album mix but it felt butchered to me :/

Yeah i have similar feelings about the radio/single mix.It seems all about a generic housey piano, chart friendly intro to try and draw people in and then getting that chorus in as many times as possible.

I'm not saying the album mix is perfect, but I've yet to hear a better version (Hot Chip, Single Edit, Extended and Extended 2). The others are good, but just different, not better.
