I had to scale down the hosting because it was costing me a ridiculous 125$/month which is way too high. We'll see how it goes.
If this keeps up I might have to finally pull the plug, something I have been avoiding out of nostalgia for a while.
I'll do my best, we'll know by the end of the month, I think I managed to cut it by half, we'll see how it goes.
It would be a shame for the plug to be pulled. Although I’ve only really been posting regularly for a few months, I’ve been a long time lurker. I would certainly miss this place.
I guess most fans communicate through Facebook now.
I'll be sad to see it go but if it's costing you money, Spotnick then maybe it's time indeed to finally let it go. Nothing lasts forever n all that. I'll miss the place but maybe it's time to shut it down.
I too would be sad to see the old girl go but there are tonnes of New Order groups on Facebook which are far more active than here.
The recent spam influx has kind of shown it's no longer really fit for purpose either.
Perhaps the time has come.

The Hook Substance book thread had 288 replies and over 42k views. That's not bad. Do these other NO groups on FB get those sort of numbers?

I for one hope it stays. Some kind of crowd funding maybe, I would also contribute. I don’t like face book personally.

Had no idea the hosting charges were as much as this. Considering how little you use this place Nik, you've been overly generous. Donations are fine, but I suspect there would need to be fund raising every 6 months or so and people would get bored of this fairly quickly. Don't see that as a sustainable option.
If everyone de-camped to the NOOL facebook page, would it make much difference to what there is now?
Ten years ago I would surf from forum to forum now there's only this and one other remaining that I visit - everything else has been replaced by social media. Time to go with the flow.
FB groups are very difficult to read and follow. FB employees don't seem to know how to sort posts by date... Ceremony mailing list would be far better.
I spend $11 a month to host my website, which gets a lot of traffic because of downloads. Is there not a possibility of moving hosts, utilizing a ready-made forum template (you'd said once you coded this by hand), or monetizing the site?
Sign of the times, isn't it? Much like others I used to jump from band forum to band forum but now nobody bothers as Facebook has taken over. Whilst I am on Facebook for pictures of peoples lunch and funny puddy cats etc I don't particularly enjoy band pages.
So I guess that's that. Thanks to Spotnik for spunking up his own cash to keep this running as long as it has.

NOOL has been my primary Neworder info source since the Ceremony mailing list went cold. I've benefitted greatly from the shared insight of others on here (& Michael Monkhouse)
I'd hate to see the same fate visited upon these forums but don't expect infinite charity from Spotnick - happy to chip in a subscription if it becomes an option.
There's a lot of useful and unique information on the wider site, as well as buried in the forum (and the old forum) that it would be a shame to lose. But those hosting costs seem way, way too high. Is that competitive with other hosters? is it mostly bandwidth?
Add me to the list of those surprised by the monthly cost.
Is there a massive, hidden porn component that's driving the fee's up? This would explain the unrelenting visitations of Monkhouse...
If I send a check to pay for a month ,then at least the site can continue through the year. There are lots of old topics still untouched, and the next 6 years should bring gobs of new songs on all the formats, cassettes too , though great for editing bad parts of other band's songs , not really necessary for neworder songs . Music for great, moody , noir, sci-fi films by the band and Hooky's band

I visit this site everyday and 4 to 5 times and hour when I am at work, I will miss it if it goes, so many years of interesting topics and posting so many things, learning about things that I didn't know about the band, surely will miss it, I hope it does not shut down.

anyways, this forum is still going, but ever since the last album, there really isn't much to talk about nowadays, besides the occasional tour or interview.
maybe it's time to take a break.

If you can't afford to keep this going, or plain and simply don't think its worth spending any more money on, then fair enough, thanks for all the effort and money you've invested in this place - hope it keeps going, there is nowhere else (online anyway) I know of that you can have some sort of semi civilised conversation about New Order, as per the previous comments, the Facebook page is a shambles. If this does shut down, its been a pleasure knowing you all. Maybe we can get some of those trainer selling, spamming bastards to sink some money into here?
