After a couple of weeks of unmitigated bashing of NEW ORDER by most regulars in this funnily named neworderonline website, I thought it would be nice to have a thread saying nice things about the best rock band ever, no question, period. Noone even comes close.

New Order- A whole Lotta Magic

There's only one fookin thing I don't particularly like about the miserable bastards, and that's that song:nod: Other than that they're all right;) Was sat up watching a few vids last night while I tucked intae a few cans of lager, G-Mex 88 is superb, pity about the guy who recorded it:nonono: Stand Still Man!! No-one comes close to JD/NO, they bring me sunshine when skies are grey (a wee bit like Henrik Larsson) they spark many emotions inside, and no other band I know can do it as often as the order....this is why we put up with all the shite that comes with the band:evil4: Funny thing with the Order is, I feel I missed so much, remember I'm only a wee lad, so I missed many of their gigs, luckily having an uncle and his missus being into the band I discovered them properly in 88, but I'd love to have been a few years older and gone to gigs around the same time as Sloppy (as long as I don't look as old as he does) I woulda loved to gone and seen them during 87 and 89, as I've said before, Reading 89 is one of the top few concerts I wished I'd been at (you can also add Finsbury 87 and Glasgow 85 to that. Fer once, I never joined in with slagging the band over Retro, look back if ye's don't believe me:nod: Although I'm disappointed with the majority of it, I'll still buy it, cos I'm a genuine fan / mug (delete as appropriate) No-one comes close:D

I was reading "...Wayward Distractions" and I was impressed by Barney talking about how they felt that music was supposed to be coming from the person creating it, not from the record companies trying to hammer it into what they thought would sell to the general public. They liked trying imperfect songs out live, before they were polished. I like that about them, they liked selling albums (except for Blue Monday), but they were more interested in creating the music they wanted, and playing by their rules... or lack there of.

well...no matter how much most of us slammed NewOrder..like, for being lazy or unattentive to fans needs, etc...In the end of the day, we all still support them and buy their stuff or see them live....coz...they are NEW ORDER!!!

even that bit of tissue Barney tossed out will be framed and hung up in my living room.......

Funnily enough i rather LIKE NEW ORDER.They have been ONE of my musical passions all my life. But that has not stopped me from buying loads of other great music. It is just that with the ORDER ,being slightly different than the rest, this appealed to MY nature.A little bit odd, strange or pure genius at times, they have managed to carry this all off with a fair amount of DIGNITY.Before using this site i could go months, and sometimes over a year, without listening to them. This always kept the music FRESH and ALIVE.Sometimes it is easy to get carried along with the flow of ANTI-PRODUCT New Order.Strange, cos until i came to the forum,i had never heard ANYTHING bad about REPUBLIC.I still like this album but then again it reminds me of a GREAT period in my life. But hey what do i know?We all have our say and most times something good comes out of this.Since the RETRO product is about to hit the shelves i have been recording and searching for MANY old FAVES and not as easily found tracks just to see if i have missed much. Not too much that i have heard is better than what has been RELEASED but nevertheless it has been interesting.I have been going through a lot of LIVE and VIDEOS courtesy of the SHUGLET and this has been a very enjoyable but somewhat PAINFUL experience at times.Like the guy who insisted on BLOWING HIS BLOODY WHISTLE at all the great moments at gigs circa 1987!So to end........ Well done NEW ORDER for giving ROCKET some great times in a somewhat MANIC life.At least i have mellowed with age just like they have.:D THIEVES LIKE US .....Rocket Mick

Shaun, if you are trying to pick up a fight you've chosen the wrong man, I do not come here to get aggro, I leave that to my boss who is currently making an excellent job out of it.

If on the other hand, you were saying that in a playful, mocking tone you may want to use a smiley like this  to make it clear.

Regards

Jose

Happiest moments of my life excluding the birth of kids and Villa winning the European Cup all revolve around NO. Lucky enough to be at the Tower Ballroom 86 and Reading 89, two of their best gigs in my book. Love the live thing, unpredictable, out of tune but most of all honest. Not much honesty in the world these days. The wife gets on my nerves a bit saying Barney has the worst voice she has ever heard. We KNOW that!

Barney has the worse voice? I don't think his voice was bad at all--does anyone else?

New Order makes my nipples harden....okay, scratch that!

I mean, I love 'em to death, THAT'S why I was bitching so much about the box set whose name shall I not utter. I only fuss because I :love2: and I know they can do better. That said, LONG LIVE THE ORDER!!!!
