ALERT: friend calls NO 'wanky'

one of my friends started up the perpetual north/south debate via e-mail and explained that southern england was better because it produced better bands, such as radiohead, pink floyd and queen. from the north, along with the 'highly over-rated beatles', one of his examples of a crap band was 'wanky' new order.

so, if anyone meets GARETH STRACHAN from BEDFORDSHIRE at some point in the near future, give him a good smack on the head for me, as i'm too far away to do it right now. just don't hurt him too bad, as deep down he is a really nice guy.

beatles overrated ? yeah right. I'll defend the early Floyd material with Syd but of course the rest of it is indeed a wankfest.

a few months ago, i managed to bump onto that skinny chap from CARTER USM ( not Fruitbat ).....anyway...he said New Order's music great, especially Get Ready buthe thought Barney was a bit of a snob ...or wanker..can't remember now...

Speaking as a southerner, tell your friend to stop embarassing me by reminding me of all the rubbish we're responsible for. Pink Floyd? Queen??? Radiohead are kind of tolerable, despite being decidedly public-school angsty. He could at least have had the decency to mention the Clash (OK, right-on rebel poseurs, but they were just so _good_ at posing).

As it is I console myself by arguing that its not 'the North' in general that kicks our arse, just Manchester.
