For those that can’t register here (I occasionally get messages on YouTube/Twitter etc. from people saying that they can’t register on NOOL), just let me know on my YouTube channel (perspexorange) and I’ll try and get you sorted.

The clip I have is of two separate interviews, presumably from two different TV studios (and on different days, looking at the change in clothes). Interestingly, both clips contain live performances, but from different TV programmes (Play At Home Haç footage and BBC Rock Around The Clock). Maybe the band decided not to mime and provided live footage from a gig instead?

Not sure where I got it from. Might've been YouTube (although I can't find it on there now).

I reckon, if the band had performed, someone will have taped it. In 1985, video recorders were in most people's houses I would imagine.

In the booklet included in the Retro boxset there's a photograph of Steve which looks like it was taken at the time of that second interview clip.It's a pic of Steve holding a big (his own?) video camera and he has same shirt and haircut, photo of Hong Kong on wall as in the clip.On page 12.

Where did you get the plastic cases mate? I've been looking for ages for something to house my 12" x 12" campaign set given that the sleeves are super flimsy

check with your arts and crafts store, and look for 12x12 plastic containers.

Over a month since the Low-life set came out now, and still no sign of the digital versions of the 12 inches on digital download or streaming services. Somewhat disappointing. Has someone at the label just forgotten to put them up online I wonder? Hope something materialises soon.

Price starting to come down £113 on Amazon at the moment

They will be released I'm told, not sure exactly when though. This time the label are operating a window for selling the physical media first.

Thanks Johnny. I wondered if they might be doing this - maximise the physical sales before allowing people to hear them digitally.

So at the time of writing, it's 23:30 here in the UK on Thursday night. I just noticed that 'The Perfect Kiss' digital single is now on iTunes - but not 'Sub-Culture' or 'Shellshock'. Perhaps they're releasing them one at a time?

I want to buy it in better quality (probably from Qobuz, where I bought the other re-released digital 12" singles at CD quality), but it's not on there yet.

I noticed the Depeche Mode album (due for release on Friday) was available on iTunes at 23:00 Thursday, so will be interesting to see if 'The Perfect Kiss' appears on other Digital music platforms on Friday morning.

Perfect Kiss single also now on Spotify just after midnight. No sign of it on Juno Download or Qobuz yet though.

so how does it sound? any better. i'm always suspicous of these remasters if they are any improvement over the regular ones, as i can't really hear the difference.

I know what you mean. After buying versions of the single over the years, the Collector's Edition of Low-Life, the Definitive Edition of Low-Life and the recent mirrored 12", it seems a bit peculiar to an oldster like me. "Yeah, you bought all those physical copies, but this virtual one sounds the best." Even if it is only a few bucks...

Those initial Collectors Editions were from dodgy U-Matics with not enough care taken in the transfer, never copied from vinyl.

The U-Matics are not very good now, some won't even play. A digital format that has not lasted.

There is that story when Factory "closed" the master tapes were chucked into a skip. From what I've read over the years, the JDNO album master tapes were always safe (in a safe, probably), but the single master tapes might've been a different story?

Plenty of masters exist in different forms. I'm sure some tapes might have been lost, but most studio sessions produced masters and copy masters. Then there are production masters. I don't think we've had too much that is totally lost so far.

It's fairly likely.

Does anyone know if the band and label are happy with the sales of Low Life so far? Wondering if it has met expectations.

That's good news. I'll also be waiting for it to drop on Qobuz - no idea why they don't get new releases on my their site first thing on release dates. Very odd.

This release two weeks after TPK suggests we'll finally get digital versions of Shellshock full 12" and Shellcock on Friday 21 April.

It's available on Qobuz.

Hope this continues with the Movement era singles.
