I’m hazarding a guess but one of the pressings of Blue Monday had a missing beat right at the start and the Polish 7” edit was sourced from that version ?

How can I describe it...well, I think one version ( that I don’t have ) starts with just one “duh” beat before the machine gun duh-duh-duh-duh-duh whereas the regular version has 2 “duh” before the rapid fire . Or is it vice versa? Anyway, something like that. Actually, why should I make the effort to explain it? Chronovisor is the one who couldn’t be arsed to explain it in the first place and told half a story so why should I bother?

The original UK version was mastered and cut on 5 occasions:
One of the original editions misses the first 2 beats of the 16-bar intro being cut off due to a mastering error:
FAC-73-A-1 MT. STRAWBERRY OUT VOTED! // FAC-73-B-1 MT. HO.EL+TEL! STRAWBERRY (runoff space 0,8 cm // 1,6 cm)

We're all aware of a beat (or two) missing at the start of some pressings. But the original question was: what's the 5.05 edit like? Conisdering the standard version is 7.27, there must be other things missing besides a beat at the start. Can you tell us!?
The last line of vocals in the full 12” version ends at 4:35. It’s probably just an early fade.

Chronovisor hasn’t answered. You see what I mean about no-one ever answers the question about the Polish 7” . I’ve seen it asked many times over the years and still I’ve never seen an answer. Wow. What is it about that Polish 7” edit that makes people who own a copy , beit an actual physical copy or a digital version that makes them evasive to providing details? Bizarre

There was nothing in the tape library, so we would have had to recreate any we wanted to use. You can probably do that yourself.
I think the two edits (Japanese and Polish) were both created by the labels in those territories only so weren't actually a Factory or band created thing. The tapes for which weren't sent back over either.

Thanks! Finally an answer. So it’s the start and end snipped off then, though I was expecting a fade out , not an abrupt stop.

It is a a fade out albeit a short one .

It starts like the original Blue Monday video version, but I think it deviates at some point (haven't really checked in depth yet). Maybe someone might want to compare the two properly:

ok, bit the bullet, and ordered the metallic brotherhood LP.
will let you know what it amounts to, and texture, colors etc, once it gets here.
that leaves me with 2 more major new order releases to get in the next couple of months, before concentrating on some other promos, colored confusion german 7 inch releases, and some other gaps i've been meaning to fill.

In other news, I managed to get hold of three car carry cases recently (Closer, PC&L and Low Life). Great stuff. If anyone has spares for Unknown Pleasures, Movement or Brotherhood, and wants to sell ‘em, please drop me a PM.

i've been making my own car carry cases with mixed results. (too thin).
However, i bought a craft cutting machine. Now, I should technically be able to cut the right thickness in cardboard to make them, and use scans to print onto them. No, its not the real thing, but it's part of the artsy craftsy things I've been doing lately.

Anyway I remember being there for a gig a few days after that particular RSD and noticing they still had a few of those 12"s on the racks (face value). Did I get one? No. Do I regret it? Well looking at those Discogs prices...Yes!

discogs prices can be reasonable or totally out of range.
if you get it for the median price, which is what i aim for. then you should be ok.
i have never tried to sell anything on discogs, so i don't really know how well it would work out. compared to ebay, which also is the other place i look at.
discogs, at least you know, people are more serious about their music. ebay prices tend to be pretty ridiculous for the most part.
barely buy anything there anymore, unless its my last resort.

here's the first original singles i have from new order.
i got these all at different times and out of order. [no pun intended]
anyways, the first single i got from them was 'blue monday' in 1983. i still remember when i bought it, and it was part of a massive amount i got that day. about $100 or 15 singles, including kraftwerks - tour de france.
i have the US blue monday, still with the shrink wrap and price sticker on it. i have one of the UK singles, and a few more.
NOW, back then, i didn't know what i was doing, so i took the printed inner sleeve covers from 'power corruption and lies', and replaced it in one of them.
i also used the inner as a sleeve for another one.

Had pretty much all the vinyl up to 96, when it became impractical and I was both losing interest and getting bored of rehashes. It'd probably be worth something but the poor condition has an effect and I suspect my family's chucked it out. Never mind.
here are the 12x12 series vinyl only collection.
some of the mixes made it out on cd-singles, but that was it.
i don't think they were even digital at that point.
new order was putting out tons of physical releases, but people complained they weren't on cd, or digital at the time.
they all make a nice set.

12x12" was a nice collection but I have as much use for vinyl as I do fishing waders.
I would've bought all 12 on CD and for a while held a faint hope that TPOIT might give them 'the treatment' but alas.
