I would agree that Some Distant memory is one of the best songs on the first Electronic album. It should have been released as a single

This song goes so well with All Day Long on a mix tape....

I agree, I like that one, and that's the only Electronic track that has a "section title" on this site :D

most of the ELECTRONIC debut is excellent, its truly up there with the better new order albums, especially the closing 3 tracks, Try All You Want, Some Distant Memory and Feel Every Beat.

Second to none is also an excellent song, b-side of feel every beat.

The oboe and strings do it for me.

Ah yes, after umpteen hours and countless minutes I have indeed found my appreciation thread. ;) Thanks for appreciating me! :D

Well, now in all seriousness, the oboe really makes this song. I like the bells in the background too. It's just a heartfelt sad song, akin to "Loveless" from Technique, IMO. And that song is probably my fave NO track too. I guess these songs just bring back vivid (yeah, I know) memories of sad times. All I can say is, it's a masterpiece. It has an orchestral background that just makes it that more special.

Well, I guess I'll add on!

My first girlfriend has pointed out several times that this was "our" song. We have so many memories from this tune, as we were coming to the end of our relationship. I have always thought this was the best song on the album, and way back when I bought it I must have felt the same. Best New Order song never on an album, in my opinion.
