But you're a star of your own, aren't you Geoffie? ;)

Erm, don't know about that, Ben. The real star here is Huntsman.

But, I try put Belgium on the map here... :)

& why is republic the start point? why doesnt it start with movement for first x posts, then pc&l etc? or is this a top 10 ranking thing where you start at no 1? (assuming republic to be no 1 album) at least that way the time everyone (apart from huntsman) gets enough posts to reach get ready the next album will be out & we'll all be re-appraising get ready...

Originally posted by Geoffroy Klompkes I don't think Nicola lives in Belgium but it's true they're hugely popular over here. But don't be ashamed, Seb. Here, there's people of all ages that love Indo...:)

Which makes me think: the first times I listened to their (very good) Dancetaria album, I thought the song "Venus" sounded very NewOrderish! Especially the guitar part, which sounds as if it was played by Barney himself. Have you heard it? If so, do you agree?

I think Indochine havae always had a huge talent when it came to melodies, and now they have talent creating ambiances as well (very nice ones on Dancetaria and very good too on the Wax album). Of course, the fact they they used GARETH JONES (an ex-Depeche Mode sound engineer) to mix the album has to do something with that.

You know what? If Indochine would have been British or Americans, they would have sold millions worldwide and be a very important group today I think. Unfortunately, the fact that their songs are in french has limited their broad impact. Using english titles for their songs and putting a few english lyrics here and there haven't changed that, because the accent of the singer is awful in english.

I've always wondered how I could listen and love music made in english, even when I was little and couldn't understand a word, without any problem, and that so many english-speaking people won't have any interest in listening music in another language. Because Indochine has most of the ingredients that would win the hearts of many people who love New Order, The Cure, Depeche Mode, and all the other new-wave/pop-rock/alternative bands from that scene.

Ah, well...

Well as far as "stars with our names" all I can think of is Claire Trevor and Trevor Horn. What a crappy name

I'm not sure I know the song you mention Seb. But with what you said, I certainly would like to hear it.

I have mixed feelings about "Indo". They have great songs and others, well, not so great.

Let's say I always had respect for them although I don't have any of their records, except for a "Troisième sexe/3 nuits par semaine" 7".

Nicola is great friends with someone, on our national radio, who hosts a very good show called "5 heures", on wednesday afternoons. In fact, I co-hosted it for 3 years.

This september, Indochine gave the show a "générique" (don't know how to say it in English but as you understand french :)... ) that is used to open it.

It's an instrumental and it's amazing. I didn't know it was them, 1st time I heard it, and I thought "what's that ?! that's great !"

As to know wether they could be huge if they were English or Americans. You never can tell. But, yes, that would have been possible.

You should give a try to their Dancetaria album Goeff, and you might be happily surprised with what they came up with. There are a few gems on that album if you ask me.

It's both a great rock and a great synth album.

Well, now I have the definitive answer to my question for this topic as I am now a member with Technique. :D

But I wonder if "Member with Technique" and "Member with Substance" aren't too openly sexual... :)
