best Hooky JD bass line

ok...ive tried 2 put everything in there where the bass line stuck in my head..or if I could play and thought it was good. Im new so sorry if uve already had this poll before..but i thought it made sense since hookys bass was basically there most defining and in my opinion best charachteristic. Shout at me if ive left anything out...im classing ceremony as joy Division because i love it so much, and i cant do a New Order one because im not as well up on them...but obviously he got alot better in New Order. ny hookey bassists out there, please vote! or anyone else for that matter, i suppose u dont have 2 be able to play to know how good that bass is.

The intro to Shadowplay!!?? It's amazing, although the song stands out more as Barney's guitar masterpiece

she's lost control is the one that always sticks in my head as being the classic hooky bassline--either JD or NO.

I like the bass-line to Exercise One...when it comes booming in over that horrible screeching intro.

Easy one for me on this one, that'd be the first JD song I'd ever heard, which was Transmission. I never get tired of that song, and can still recall the thrill of hearing it for the first time.

Tough to choose. Although it must be said that the bass line to Isolation must be a Hooky favourite because he used it again in Broken Promise.

I chose "She's Lost Control", because the bassline is played the way only Hooky can play. On this track, he's playing notes while playing over another open string, and not a lot of bassists play in that manner (especially when Joy Division were still a new band). It was a tough choice for me, because the bassline to "Ceremony" is just beautiful and encompasses several ranges of the bass, and the bassline to "Transmission" is so memorable and moving, and the song just kicks ass!

Either way, these are some good tunes.

...another tough one, but i choose "24 hours". i like it when hooky uses two strings at a time. "Insight" is another favourite. For New Order i'd choose "Primitive Notion".

It's got to be one of the most famous bass lines of all time - Love Will Tear Us Apart - it contains superb melody and emotion!

That funky bass is wicked, especially during the chorus.

I mean, I play guitar & drums , but I'm also learning to play the bass because of THESE DAYS.

I voted Disorder and am surprised no-one else did - it's my first memory of Hooky playing in a totally distinctive style. First song on the first LP too...

no it shouldnt. ok fair point, i should have put in there..the intro is brilliant, but to be honest it dosnt really have much of hookys style, and that song is more set around the guitar, i think. excerise 1, yep, that should be, ok, i shouldnt have left some of the less obvious ones out, sorry..im not as familar with them. listened to komakino, you have a point.
