2017.....New Order release "Metamucil"
New Order, rock and roll's leading 60-year-olds, released their latest album "Metamucil" as a follow-up to the smash "Get Ready", released almost 16 years ago. Back in form, the elderly boys get back to their roots with tunes like "Wheelchair of Ecstasy" and "Sponge Bath".
The album opener is the obvious single "Blue Monday 2017" which finds the band remixing yet again for the masses (Blue Monday was originally released in the Mesozoic Era). "We felt....what? I can't hear you! What did you say?...oh, yeah, we felt it was time for another remix...damn my hearing aid's gone out again," said bassist Peter Hook, 61. "We wanted something the great-grandkids could relate to, ya know?"
Bernard Sumner, also 61, was approached for his response to comments that New Order were "too old" for the youth driven market, but he chased this reporter from his house, screaming "Get off my lawn, you cunt!". Luckily I made my escape before he could start up his solar-powered wheelchair.
Many of New Order's peers, such as Depeche Mode, The Cure, and Haircut 100, have all agreed that "Metamucil" is "crap," "shit," and "bollocks".
Many will remember that New Order's last live gig was in support of U2 on December 18, 2004, in London. That was the night Hooky accidentally left his bottle of Jack Daniels onstage, resulting in the tragic elecrocution of Bono when he kicked the speaker the bottle was on, causing it to spill all over the electrical cords and right through Bono's copper pants.
Since then, New Order has been in a virtual media blackout, backing out of Queen Elizabeth's 65-year jubilee earlier this year. Now, however, the boys (or old men) are back and ready to, to use Hooky's outdated phrase, "rock the shack". ("Rock the Shack" is slang for sex with a chicken)
New Order's new album, "Metamucil", will be in stores November 2nd, with "World in Motion: Yet Again" scheduled for an early 2018 release. The band plans to tour senior citizen's homes, going door-to-door, to avoid going on the dole.....
