As promised, I have a 4 x CDR promo of "RETRO" (this will be autographed by the band too) for the reader who answers the following New Order question correctly;

What make of drum machine was used on the recorded (1983) version of "Blue Monday"?

Answers should be addressed to; snowblind@delorean.com

All answers to be received before midnight this coming Monday 25th November.

No multiple entries please; any thinly diguised duplicates or multiple mail from the same I.P. address wil NOT be considered. Each correct mail will be numbered then the winner chosen randomly.

Jonathan.

All of this information is duplicated over at www.worldinmotion.net

By way of an explanation; I was told at 8:55pm this evening that the promo could be signed by the band - AFTER the initial post went up.

When you say "make" do you mean specifically the NAME of make AND the NUMBER? e.g. ROLAND TR 303. (Just to avoid any confusion.) ?

You know, you might have to find a little to find this...! there are several ways to find out.

I am clueless in term of musical instruments but I managed to find it in 30 seconds... :D

Good luck!

BTW, for those wondering, I'm not advertising this one on the front page, so all the "regulars" have a fair chance to win...

you don´t have any idea of how excited I am about this competition. I just sent my answer and I know is the one! for the first time in my life I´m that close to win anything. I´m really excited !!! :jump:

Well, we know it wasn't a Fairlight....:D

Was it a Bontempi keyboard? one of those one's with the light up keys that teaches you how to play greensleeves? and sounds like it has a wasp trapped inside it?

well, unfortunately for me, I don't know what it is, and I'm just way too lazy to even try to find out what it was..

so I guess it's safe to say, I won't be winning this little nugget!!!

Since the competition is over...

Somebody asked the same question on this forum one month ago, nobody replied, but later he replied poiting a URL where the New Order equipment was listed.

I cut and pasted everything in the FAQ section.. so you can find easily the answer there.

Sorry - what I should have pointed out was that I have 2 days off at the start of any given week after working the weekend - oops!

Anyway, just started back so give me an hour and I'll sort out the winner...

you don't need an hour to tell me i won. :D

...and the winner is;

Humberto Vadillo

who correctly pointed out that the drum machine on Blue Monday was mad ny OBERHEIM.

The bands press office are sending Andy Robinson the promo to be signed and then on to me for Huber.

Thanks,

Jonathan.

As an extra to all this, some of the wrong answers (of which there were MANY!) were;

Moog Source - this was the BASS line to the track

Linn 9000 - a drum machine but not the right one

Yamaha DX7 - this is in fact a synth

Boss Dr R. - another incorrect drum machine...

Congrats Budvar! :clap: :beer:

I'm happy for you. Of course if I had won the contest I'd be happier, but it's nice to see a forum regular winning this time. It's really disappointing when a New Order contest has several prizes and all the winners are people I never have heard of.

Hope my original post didn't make any of you think there were FOUR of these to be won - My mention of "4 X CDR" refers to the actual promo itself and NOT 4 separate copies of the promo...

Just out of interest - what model of OBERHEIM do you have CTB???

I'm very interested in adding to my collection of equipment used by the band. I've already got a couple of synths and an RX 11 drum machine pluse the bands own Emu III which is heading of for repair shortly...

Hey Jonathon Mine was a DMX, which I picked up second hand (naturally) about 5 years ago for around AU$120, but that turned out to be a waste of money. It looked nice, however I think it had been dropped down a set of stairs too many times - the buttons were all buggered and 2 of the faders were not able to be moved! It definitey tried to makes noise last time I used it, but it's really ready for the next hard garbage day I'm afraid... CTB :bear:

...in addition to that, I have just been scoping round the house and can't find the thing anywhere - maybe it has already gone to that big wheelie bin in the sky, or maybe my mum is using it as a garden ornament, I don't know. CTB :bear:

Cheers pals, you're very kind. And do not worry, the CD's have found themselves a very good and happy home where they will be cared for. Of course they will be carefully scanned and said scans send to Nicos as soon as I get them.

Muchas gracias a todos amigos!

:jump: :jump: :jump:

PS. Kylie could not believe it when I told her yesterday night!
