WHERE CAN I GUARANTEE GETTING HOLD OF THE FIFTH 'RETRO' DISC???

Can someone who has contacts please get in touch with London Records to find out where I can definitely get one of these limited edition fifth discs when I buy my copy of 'Retro'?

I've just received the following email from HMV, in reply to an emailed query:

Dear Andrew,Thank you for your recent email. Unfortunately it looks as though we will not be getting the limited version. As the title suggests, it is limited and so it seems the company may not have had anymore to give us I'm afraid. Sorry about this. Yours respectfully,Mr Pat LeacockCustomer ServiceHMV.co.uk--Original Message--Hi there. I recently pre-ordered the forthcoming 'Retro' 4 CD boxed set (details below) from HMV.co.uk. I have today read on www.neworderonline.com that the first "3000 copies sold" will come with an additional bonus 5th disc of unreleased material. This % CD set does not appear on your site as a different item, so I am wondering if I will receive this limited edition set, as I pre-ordered the boxed set some time ago.Can you please confirm that I will be receiving one of these first limited edition sets when I receive it from HMV.co.uk next month? Many thanks in advance.

I'm sure if this thing is only a couple of weeks from release, then they'd know about it by now. I'm beginning to think the whole extra disc is a hoax, as how are we meant to know it'll be in there if they're not changing the packaging, it's not listed as a separate item at any online stores, and HMV (who are supposed to be the only ones stocking it) know nothing about it in their head office?

If this comes out, and the likes of us (i.e. the true fans) don't get a copy, there'll be a few severely upset people around here. Hell, I'll even cancel my cheapo £16.99 pre-order, and pay the extra £20 just to get the extra disc, if I can guarantee getting one!

Please, someone get in touch with the band/label and find out the facts!

Regards, Andrew Morrison http://www.TrustNoOne.org.uk

Panic on the streets of London, panic on the streets of Birmingham

I wonder to myself

WILL LIFE EVER BE SANE AGAIN

my mother always told me that "things will work out in the end" and i have to believe she was right...we will all have the bonus disc one way or another...if they don't want to give it to us or release it widespread, CD Burners around the globe will be spinning....take our money or watch your product change hands for FREE! You have been warned.

I have had my suspicions all along that the bonus disc is going to be an "in-store" item all along. Seems that E-mail may well have confirmed it.

Outside the shop an 9AM on the 9th it is, then.

Aye, buy two copies - one online for £16.99, and one in the shop for 36 quid. Whichever one doesn't have the extra disc goes back for a refund - or if they both have it, goes into storage for Ebay. If neither have it, the initial dodgy tracklisting complaints on this forum won't be a patch on what will follow.

Surely, if this mythical "extra disc" is made available, there'll at least be a sticker on the box to tell us it's in there?!

Do we know "officially" that it's out on December the 9th in the UK yet? Do we know anything?

Andy.

Retro is now on hmv.co.uk, at the reduced price of £28 complete with bonus disc.

Just emailed them now, to confirm I'll still get the extra disc even at the original £16.99 price tag. I guess the guy who contacted me this morning was simply not aware of a "limited" version. I guess their first few copies will have an extra disc bundled with the "officially released" boxed set until they sell out at HMV. It's only there the once on their New Order list, so I guess we'll all get one - they can't have had masses of pre-orders as yet.

They must be getting a bit fed up of all our emailed queries though!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as stock from their online store goes, I think it all comes from their Oxford Street store's stock room anyway, so what you get either from the shop or online should be from the same source. I certainly know that's where the site is run from.

HMV still list it as a 2nd December release date, incidentally.

Confusion.

I ordered from Amazon then cancelled to get it from HMV. I am still not sure when it is out and if i'll get the 5th disc.....oh well.

Well, I finally committed to it - I ordered from HMV - hoping to get the bonus disk. If I don't get it, it is going to SUCK. So, it gets released on the 2nd or the 9th?

Ordered from HMV.co.uk where it clearly states that it includes the bonus disc. So if it is not there I guess we can claim our money back and stop credit card payment. It says also that it will be released on the 2nd of december.

I am beginning to think that all of this is a clever marketing ploy to promote:

CONFUSION!!!!!!

BTW, since I have also ordered 511, all of Europe, including England is on the same DVD region, innit?

BTW II, when you've just placed an order with HMV, the order status of your account is: New Order. Nice touch.

Yep, all region 2.

I too have placed my order on HMV.co.uk and have to cancel the one on Amazon...

They have listed the bonus disc on hmv.co.uk, so it better be shipped with it, otherwise, they can be SURE I will return the box set...

I'm pretty sure a bunch of us will end up with 2 or 3 bonus set just because we wanted to be sure to get it..

I too will be returning mine if it does not have the bonus disk. I love to support my local store, and I am backing out of buying it in town after telling them I would. So if HMV screws me, they will see it return like a high boomerang.

My latest "HMV update"! -

The New Order Retro Box Set comes with a free bonus disc, there is a limited pressing of 3000 throughout the UK, but the LTD quantity is not all for HMV and will be available at other retailers. We have many pre orders for this item, the sooner you pre order it the higher the chance of getting a LTD edition version. If you pre ordered yours on October 19th then the chance of you getting a copy is high.I must point out though, that as yet we do not know how many copies of the LTD edition will be sent to us. In the event of a new release shortage, orders are fulfilled on a first come, first serve basis.

I've had this thing on order for two months, so I'd better get the free disc!

I am not very optimistic that my order will come with the fifth disc. So I'm not going to be bother and I've canceled my order.

This topic has been done to death, so i don't wish to over elaborate on speculation but its highly unlikely web orders which are invariably at a cheaper price than retail outlets will sell the "extra cd" as priority to the over the counter outlets.

They would sell more in the shops with this 'offer' thus they would get snapped up quicker and a bigger margin would be made as they are at R.R.P.

I may well be wrong as storage costs often lower websale prices but this still seems logical to me.

I emailed hmv.uk about this set and here is there response:

"The limited edition is not restricted to 3000 copies and is NOT exclusive to HMV.

I regret that the advertisements in the press and information on the New Order web site are incorrect.

Regarding placing an order, please be assured that all of our initial orders of this item will be supplied as the limited edition therefore you should be fine if you place a pre-order on line through the site.

Arggggggg. Where's the truth?!
