I haven't heard the orig. live version yet so I went with the Perfecto version.

I have that disc but Jacko's name and Macaulay's name are omitted (for legal reasons, I presume). I'm wondering if there are copies circulating that have the lyrics intact?

Original version for me (as on Electronic Ecstacy 1993). Much more rocky than this semi-dance-perfecto-thing

They shouldn't play remixes live. It sounds too much like taped music. And though the True Faith perfecto remix was good the first time I heard it, I eventually got tired of it.

I actually prefer the current live version, having lived through the original live version. I'd much rather they didn't play it though. Ever again !

Absolutely. Both destroyed with toy-town and unnecessary influences over the last few years.

TF original live (especially at the 80's gigs) fucking kicked arse. The crunching drums and thick synth sounds with Barney's riffs and H's bass melted amazingly well on stage. Alongside TBTHOG hearing and seeing these live was as good as the record ... better in fact. Why tamper with this? ... it is a shame.

Similar to modern takes on True Faith, all mixes except the original seem to water down the intensity ... which is obviously a bad thing.

True Faith on 'The Roxy' an excellent performance in front of TV.

Have you heard the remix on Substance Abuse, H? My recollection is it's pretty good, although I haven't listened to it lately.

I don't have Substance Abuse Patty, I don't do drugs ... but I'll probably have the re-mix elsewhere. If it's the re-mix released at the time TF was in '87 I will have it and it is pretty good. I was referring to True Grit '94 and others that replaced the thumping drums with lighter replicants and various synth parts with mountain water. This took the NO hard edge out and placed a poppy pop sound in for whatever reason, perhaps to be more commercial and poppy jones.

TF 12" is best, hearing it live around the late eighties was even better. Their own new version stinks so bad you could ride it's back to the shops.

I completely agree, Huntsy, the current version is abysmal. By the way, I did finally see the MTV Europe music awards. I was disappointed that Eminem and others seemed to be miming, although I don't think Coldplay were. By the way, "miming" is not a word I would have used before being subjected to the Transatlantic influence here.

The awards were a bit boring, it was a shame Moby won best website ... he should have won Male most likely to sample stock library sounds.

I thought you knew everything P, miming is not a word used in America? ... what does a mime do, but mimic? The word is most definitely from European descent though, even sounds it.

Well, Moby's recent album does not seem to have met with overwhelming success. He was a little more interesting a few years ago.

"Mime" is used here as a noun to refer to a person who performs without speaking. I don't believe "miming" is used here to refer to a singer or musical group pretending to "perform" their recorded music. The common term for that here is lip-synching, although that really only covers the singer.

Actually, H, I'm apprehensive about The Two Towers. It seems like about 98% of the movie is a battle at night. How interesting can that be?

I never imagined a film about a Kestrel could be so overwhelming until I watched Kes. Greet the Trump Towers with optimism, he delivered with the previous film tenfold, and I have heard many powerful words spoken about the next instalment. Big Peter Jackson improved on the original take re-employing all necessary protagonists for certain scenes ... and you know how busy them dwarves are around Christmas time.

A huge, magnificent battle at night ... and walking trees! ... I'm already very, very excited. I hope there are some more dragons kicking about and wolf creatures with x-ray vision.

Well, yes, considering how many times I've watched the first one, I have no right to be worried. But some of the details you mention must have been included only in the super-expanded version, or else perhaps I was looking at different parts of the screen.

i picked the perfecto despite the fact that the only time i heard it played perfectly was reading '98 i think it just works better live than the original version as i think the studio version isnt as good as the original studio version of the song

Glastonbury 87. I'm not too keen on the Perfecto live version (the remix is utter shite so why do they play a live version of it is beyond me!).

for what its worth, the Original TF, although the remix is better live as: A) it goes on much longer thus they stay on stage longer :) B) Barney gets a chance to dance a bit more and Steve gets another break!

wow, surprized by the poll...i like the live version myself more than the original, but its may favorite, so i can't go wrong
