NewOrder is positive music for a negative world.....

Hi everyone,

I feel in light of the recent events that occured in NewYork City...New Order is the right type of music to keep the people uplifted and thinking positively. I mean, we have so many groups out there that sing about violence, i.e., Limp biscut, Insane Clown posse, Eminem, any gangster rap group....etc....

Anyway, just some random thoughts.

Try telling my bird that New Order and Joy Division aren't depressing. The happiest song New Order ever made was that organ one off Republic... which was about the demise of Factory Records.

Put Decades on and if you haven't cut your own wrists within 16 nano-moments your already dead.

Huntsy, my biggest criticism of Technique has always been that it is way too cheerful. Surely you don't think that effort is depressing?

Technique is depressing, sad, happy, thought provoking, deep, weird, strange, fulfilling etc. etc.

I find Technique crystallizes New Order - it is neither happy, nor sad. Take Dream Attack, sometimes I listen to it and feel really depressed. Other times, I think, yeah, this is realy uplifting. Vanishing Point is a bit depressing, so is Mr. Disco - very sad lyrics.

I do admit the album has happy melodies, but listen to the lyrical content and the underlying messages are of despression, lost love and an almost unimaginable desire for baked snacks.

But surely an almost unimaginable desire for baked snacks permeates all of life, doesn't it, Huntsy? And the combination of depressing lyrics with cheerful melodies is really what is most characteristic of NO, isn't it?

Although Ian Curtis' singing sounds like a block of wood dying in a lost sea... don't ignore the subtle depressions which emanate from Barney. Depression sometimes does not need to be overtly dark...

Yes Pats... yes, ..... yes, yes, yes.

SSSSoooo..... Technique, technically, is technically a somber album. I'm sure you would agree that Tech. is one of New Order's finest moments... well, then, well, that's sad and happy at its best!

I do look for depressing tones to most things, perhaps I'm biased... but Technooky is definately a depressing event for us all to enjoy with our various snacks and bars of chocolate in front of the fire on a stormy, snowy christmas eve night.

Fuck chickens.

One of the most depressing songs I've ever come across in my whole entire life on the earth and beyond is 'This Woman's Work' by Katherine Bushfield. Dig it out Patty, I promise you will not be disappointed. If you would ever release your e-mail address onto the world I'd send it to you but I know your a cool cucumber and only ever release certain snippits acceptable for human digestion... like Batman. It would be too much to take displaying your full profile... a bit like governments not releasing the identities of known aliens who live and breed amongst us with no real discernible differences... except their unique blacks spots on the back of their fucking necks the bastards. We can take it, please, identify the fuckers... I won't harm them.

I've never thought of Technique as a 'down' album, but maybe thats because i've been there from the beginning. Movement is a 'down' album, to me Technique is an all singing, all dancing, all night shagfest of an album.

I suggest you listen to Technique again. This time, pay attention. I will not stand for such blasphemy. You can't handle the truth.

Movement is what occurs when engineers slip on the record button and sparrows scraping stones across tarmac are recorded. The only song worth listening to from Movement is the Sparrow Dance Scrape on side 2.

I suggest you listen to Technique again... this time with a barrow full of snacks and a hanky.

Get ready is probably the album which is the most upbeat (+possibly the worst) lyrically. Lyrically Technique was superb-the best from the pen of Barney Boy. The skill in it is that you do have to listen over and over again to try and decipher whether they are up or downbeat.

Mr. Briggs has spoken the truth. We should adhere to his inspiration. Perhaps S Biggsy could construct a song and post it here one time. It could get adopted as a national anthem sang by thousands of greyhounds.

Is it possible SB's distant relative piloted an X-wing during the surprise attack on the death star?

Dreams Never End is passable, the rest is first class cack. I stand by my assessment of aforementioned shagfest Technique, and suggest you Huntsy play it as you engage in frolicks with that 'heavy set' chick for whom you have revealed a liking!

Now that is a vision I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Me and the Chak's doing the double whilst Technique is playing on the stereogram.

My peak would occur during Mr. Disco's syndrum bits after the first chorus. I would shout "Chaka, I'm doing you baby, its coming, look out bitch'

then smash! - she would have been fulfilled.
