You can't vote for the songs nominated in the other polls (album tracks, b-sides, non album singles)

I'm still not sure if Theme = Homage, but well, it's worth a try.

Mine? Seriously, do you care? :D

I don't know, I didn't listen much to those songs except Brutal.. and I like Brutal, so...! Go figure, maybe Haystack? ;)

Can't remember what most of those sound like. Do you think maybe the supply of poll topics is drying up? :)

Yeah, but you all know they'll be done over again in a few months probably

The point is still to gather the "worst" tracks and do a poll together.

And no, polls on the same subject won't be allowed when polls are public (ie in the poll section of this site).. so unless new material is released, there is no point...!

Love Juice isn't a song, it's an impromptu jam !!!!

Don't see anyone suggesting the ramshackle take on Lou Reed's "Do The Ostrich" anywhere.....

I voted for Salvation Theme. Not good.

Let's Go instrumental (the proper version of the song) is one of their best 5 tracks ever !!!!

Just revisited these tracks and can confirm that The Salvation Theme is total crap.

gotta disagree. as cheesy and lite as The Happy One...sounds good to me. Skullcrusher is a bit loud and i haven't heard Haystack or a decent recording of Homage. I'll represent the true American spirit and NOT VOTE...seriously, below 50percent turnout for a country who tries to make every other country a democracy...UGH!

My "other" is Ode To Joy and Rocking Carol - they are interesting the first time you hear them and funny - but after the one time... they SUCK! If they ever appear on an official NO CD, I will cut them out of the CD with a knife.

I go with theme even though I didn´t listen to all these songs. maybe someone could upload the salvation tracks. anyone?

Yeah, I forgot to put those, sure thing they will end up in the final poll :-)

The Happy One (as played by Peter Hook on OSM) is actually quite a catchy tune... too bad they didn't "finish" it..

I voted for "Theme". Sounds like a bad "Sisters Of Mercy"-track to me.

"Brutal" is brilliant !!!

Well, I got a good argument.. Rocking Carol & Ode To Joy are indeed COVER VERSIONS.. so it can't be picked :D

i went with the salvation theme, as well. kinda boring.

I opted for Sputnik myself - some other-worldly bongoes and low synth rumbles aren't my idea of a cracking tune personally. Brutal is excellent though, as is Let's Go. CTB :bear:

I agree, they should finish it

Why all the hate for the "Salvation Theme"? I thought it was decent minimalist composition! Now "Skullcrusher", that's a track I dread like perhaps no other in the New Order canon.

Can't say I've heard of "Haystack" or "Love Juice", but I downloaded "Theme" and "Homage" from this site a long time ago and deleted them because I thought they were some fan's remix project gone bad. Perhaps luckily, I've forgotten how these songs sounded!!

Spotnick..why single out "Haystack"?Sometimes I wish it had never happened but it did..I got to do what many of us dream about..to actually play with one of my favourite bands of all time and for them to record one of my songs. The result wasnt anything as good as it could have been - I take the blame for that..but dont you wish you could have done it/been there..and do you blame me and Cherry Red for re-issueing it ?( - along with 22 other tracks that veer from the toe curling to the brilliant..) It was Cherry Reds idea to do it..and Ive co-operated,working on extensive CD insert notes/info..I expect a lot of flack for it - it sure got enough back then!..But -and again what would you do if you were me - I`m hoping it might lead people to the far,far superior work I do now..

I guess its singled out cos its one of the more unusual ones & not that many people got to hear it

(there is one post above from someone not knowing about it for example)

you yourself have said elsewhere you were nervous (understandably) & didnt give your best performance

welcome to the site - these are great insights

Bastard. Me too now! ;)

So what did you think of Get Ready, Kevin? Someone wrote this about you on another forum - "As for Hewick, he is still crooning and not sounding too bad at that... actually sounding much better than NO and he isnt afraid to slag them off after the debacle that was Get Ready"

So, you're slagging off New Order these days, huh?!

Hey Kevin,

I've read all of your 7 messages that you posted today. First of all, let me welcome you to NewOrderOnline. It's always nice to see artists join the discussion and share their thoughts and experiences.

Now, from what I've read, I am under the impression that Haystack is a piece of jewelry and that you are some sort of musical genius.

Nobody likes to see his work dissed, but you have to put things in perspective I think!

Quite frankly, I never heard anything else from your work. Maybe I shouldn't say this, but I guess that if your work was so "superior" to Haystack, I would have heard it already??? That you would selling hundreds of thousands of albums worldwide???

Just asking.

:uhoh:

hey MAN UP NORTH...have you heard the new FOUR TET album? Have you heard Carl Craig's More Revolutionary Songs LP?...if not, they must be SHIT right? I'd have to say that just because some one in the WORLDS CAPITAL MONTREAL should have heard all the best music already...What a load of SHITE.

Quite...

Personally, I'll make up my mind about Kevin's later work after I've heard the Cherry Red CD, and not before...

There are *loads* of great songs out there that I haven't heard of, but that doesn't mean that they're not good - mostly it's down to a lack of promotion/distribution/airplay, which doesn't equate to whether a song is good or not!

Let's face it, unless a band has a huge hit single (e.g. Blue Monday), then they'll remain underground unless they do...

l8rs,

Nick ;)

Fine Time. I always skip it on any album with it. It's only saving grace is the video.. and I can only watch that at 2am when I'm barely awake.

Man, you've BEEN through the point of no return.

P.S. FOUR TET AND CARL CRAIG ARE CRAP

"Sputnik" sucks, it's not even a song, just a few keys pressed on a synth, boring.
