(the rest of) NewOrder - the missing mixes?

In the August 1995 edition of Q magazine there was an advert for the at-that-point-unreleased remix album. It said it featured mixes by (and I'm guessing at the tracks): Hardfloor (obviously Blue Monday) Paul Oakenfold & Steve Osborne (True Faith? We got World instead) Pete Heller & Terry Farley (Regret) Tall Paul (True Faith?) Joe T. Vanelli (1963) Utah Saints (?) Marmion (?) Pump Panel (Confusion) C J Bolland (Temptation) and Plastik Man (god knows).

Obviously these mixes were crap and someone at London (probably NOT Pete Tong) replaced them with old remixes we all already had.. but have the replaced mixes seen the light of day? I know Tall Paul's turned up on a Cream compilation but we've not seen the Marmion, Plastik Man or Utah Saints mixes to my knowledge. Any takers?

i have the Richie Hawtin (Plastikman) mixes of Blue Monday and i've seen a 12" with Schoenenberg by Marmion and Blue Monday by New Order but the sticker said original versions of each.

I forgot Richie Hawtin was Plastik Man. That just leaves Marmion and Utah Saints, which if I'm not mistaken were both signed to London Records in the mid nineties. Pete Tong strikes again.

Just thought I'd throw in the fact that I can see a version of The Rest Of on Amazon.co.uk which is 11 tracks long. The track listing corresponds to the NOOL discgraphy entry for "2xCS UK 828661.4" but it's advertised as a CD.

Anyone got this - or is it a mistake on Amazon.co.uk? (To look at it online, just go to Amazon.co.uk and search for "New Order Rest" - it should be the first CD entry.)

Sorry if this is a widely known thing - been listening to New Order for a few years, but only started reading these forums/this site a few months ago.

The 2nd CD on the limited edition is the Blue Monday 95 UK CD.. don't worry, the CD tracklisting is the same...

But the pink background limited edition had the bonus cd.

Don't know if we're talking about the same thing here - the item on Amazon.co.uk is an 11-track CD. You're talking about a limited edition double CD. The track listing on Amazon.co.uk is (remix versions not specified)... World Blue Monday True Faith Confusion Touched by the Hand of God Bizarre Love Triangle Everything's Gone Green Ruined In A Day Regret Temptation Age of Consent

11 tracks - featuring Temptation and Everything's Gone Green, but minus Spooky. Exactly the same listing as specified in the discography as "2xCS UK 828661.4" - presumably a cassette version.

I was considering buying the version on Amazon.co.uk, but I'd really like to hear that somebody else has it first, and that it's not some sort of erroneous track listing.

Thanks folks for the input. I've actually got the Advent CD single with the "Green" mixes on; looks as if the advert was prepared before the mixes were finished and I presume that the Shep Pettibone mix of True Faith, World (Perfecto), Regret (Fire Island) and Ruined in A Day (K-Klass) were bunged on as replacements for the withdrawn mixes.

This is wrong data - The only CD releases out for the Rest Of are the 10-trk ones (Ltd edition & regular edition).

The cassette (ltd edition double cassette & regular edition) both have the tracklisting you listed above -> no Spooky.

In 1995 Marmion were asked by New Order to produce a remix for them. So Mijk and Marcos produced a remix of "The Perfect Kiss" for New Orders Remix Album, but New Order didn't like it and rejected to put it on their album.

But Mijk and Marcos believed in their work and released it on their own. The result is "No Particular Order".

i don't know about the ending.. but yeah, it doesn't sound like the perfect kiss at all..

but then again, a lot of the more radical mixes didn't sound like the originals either..
