New Order are back in studio now that the promotional work for Retro is done. A source close to the band confirmed to NewOrderOnline that they are continuing to work on material for their next album at Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert's farm in Macclesfield.

So I wonder if Gillian is contributing or just making the tea?

The staying home to look after her sick child excuse wont really wash if the albums being recorded at her house will it!!

And "promotional work for Retro"

errr.. what exactly is this?

They signed a few copies of the boxset to give away as prizes for various competitions, done a radio interview and a couple of magazine interviews which were probably done a month or so ago...

anything else??

I'd like to see it recorded somewhere away from their home comforts. North Africa or maybe somwhere a bit edgy.

There was the G-Mex gig two Sundays back that everyone else seems to have missed. .

ah, man! I was hoping they'd do another "best-of" compilation :p

Let's see, it's December now, so we can expect to see the album in stores by at least.........May 2009, I'd say

YEAH like in Rocky 4 when Rocky went to Russia... yeah, just like that. They could get up in the morning and run through 3 foot of snow in order to outrun the KGB so that they can get hungry again. Maybe if it all works out, NO will be able to knock out Ivan Drago with their powerful dancy beats.

I was hoping for more remixes of Blue Monday. There were remixes in 1987 and 1995 so the next set is due some time soon or may already be late. :p

Well, since it's being recorded at a farm house, odds are it will be filled with more sheep samples and cow bells.

Actually, isn't there ALREADY a Blue Monday remix done by Rob Searle (not sure of the name) in 2001 or 2002?

So technically, they are done.. True Faith remixes in 2001, Blue Monday Remixe in 2002.. like True Faith 94 and Blue Monday 95 ;)

Personally, I'm getting tired of all these remixes of the classic/popular songs like True Faith and Blue Monday (especially!). Many of them are crap, especially ones from DJs like Armand Van Helsen (or however the hell you spell his name). Seems like a lot of these DJs fall asleep at the decks/drum machines/sequencers! Give it up, guys...repetitive beats are outdated. Damn it, we don't NEED 100 measures of solo bass drum!

We want to hear creativity, not repetition or ecstacy-fueled ambiance.

As we all know, NO have LOTS of other great songs that can be turned into other inspiring tracks! DJs: do something with those, for goodness' sake!
