In the latest issue of Uncut (January 2003) there's a 1 and 1/3 page review of the box set (p. 130-131, under the lame header: "Dreams Never End"). It's a sympathetic review (the box gets four stars). The writer treats the tracklisting in quite a detailed manner. He doesn't forget to point out the unforgivable omission of Thieves Like Us, has a stab at remixes in general, and rightly questions the inclusion of the originals of EGG and TBTHOG on 'Club' instead of 'Pop'.

Oh yeah, there's also a quick Q & A with Peter Hook. That's alright with me, as long as the editors don't forget to do a 32-page feature on our lads any time soon (instead of the fucking 'Oo, as in the current issue).

Why is the omission of Thieves 'unforgivable' ?

Surely if any song deserves that comment its Love Vigilantes, and i can think of plenty of other tracks that have a lot better justification for being included than TLU !

Surely not enough of them are dead yet for Uncut to do a major article on them? Uncut only gives the big feature treatment to bands who's heyday was at least 30 years ago (not 20, as for our lads).

They've already had a big feature on New Order a couple of years ago.

It was on the January/99 edition, I guess.

Close: it was take 21, February '99 (but indeed, it must have come out in January, as the cover date is always one month ahead)

It's not the original TBTHOG, it's the single version...

oops... I stand corrected. But what I actually meant is that it's not a remix anyway, but the short 7" version.

I am SO tired of people claiming that the omission of a song is terrible. There are so many songs that could have been put on the albums that weren't. Maybe if this 5 disk set were the Camper Van Beethoven box set, they could have gotten everything on it. It's a box for a 23 year old band for goodness sakes...
