knock out punch

Hi...

I was wondering with the litres and litres of booze this band has drank over the decades, there must have been a few punches thrown. Anybody have information on who's punched out who?

i think all the punching done by new order was done by rob gretton, i think gretton and hooky had it out with the audience at a joy division gig (24 hour party People) im not sure where the gig was but a roadie jumped in to help hooky and gretton against the crowd because he said he was terrified of what gretton would do to him if he didnt, he'd rather take his chances with a hostile club full o f people!!!!, i think i read that in the middles book

Hooky famously punched in the nose the boyfriend of her ex wife Caroline Aherne (Aka Mrs. Merton, aka the cheeky lass from the Fast Show) it made the Sun's first page (You can't get more mainstream than that BTW!), I think. But of course this was while off New Order duties.

I think Hookys appeared in the Sun more times than the rest of the band put together!!! but after all he does epitomise the Rock God cliche!! :D

That gig was in Bury and I stood on that spot 12 months ago at a beer festival. No punching going on then though. The roadie i think was Terry Mason who was Joy Divisions first manager who was at school with Barney and Hooky. Does anybody know whether he is still about?

I think that also happened at The Factory on 28/9/79 during the encore. Apparently someone at the front took a full whack of headstock as Hooky leapt off stage and chased them out through the crowd. Way to go !
