Well, here's to our new Survivor with Substance

Just a reminder, the rules:

  • First person to reply can claim immunity for a song
  • Immunity will stop when 3 songs will be left
  • The song with the most votes is eliminated daily
  • All votes for a song that has immunity are void
  • You can't choose immunity two days in a row

There are 2 new rules, I will track the elimination history and the immunity history.

So go ahead!

Elimination History

Day 1: Procession claimed by Biznotic Love Trapazoid

Immunity History

Prediction: Shame of the Nation Prediction percentage 0/0 (0%)

Immunity for Procession...my vote for SubCulture...i love the version on Low Life and the Record Mirror mix and the live versions from 85/86 but John Robie should be shot...no, that wouldn't hurt enough.

I think that Shame of the Nation HAS to go--State was good but Shame was well pretty terrible. The wailing female backing singers were worse than barney's take on Every Little Counts.....

Where's Mesh? Ha!

Seriously though, you could have included the cassette only tracks.

... not again please!

We all know now Mesh wasn't on Substance ;)

Well, I did it with the CD tracklisting, but if you insist.. I have added them.

Very attentive!

This is gonna take forever. Should of only included the 24 songs that appear on the double CD.

Shame of the Nation must go.

Biznotic, I do not think Procession is at any serious risk till at least 10 more rounds and I would bet it will be amongst the top 5.

Top Five Prediction/wish:

1963 Temptation Procession TPK Lonesome Tonight

Make that Top 6 to include Ceremony.

I can feel another Perfect Kiss-Temptation battle coming in a few weeks.

For the time being, Shame of the Nation has to go.

Shellshock's going. If not now, then soon. My vote anyway. This will probably be more interesting than Get Ready - let's see how much the B side remixes are actually liked...

CERMONY!!

only kidding ;)

The Beach - as time goes on i skipped this track more times than i listen to it i think!

"shame of the Nation" & "Subculture" are shit. I voted "Subculture" because it was a single. The Low Life version is gret, but the remix sucks. I especially hate those back voices...:violent:

OK, I'll go for B - side instrumentals and remixes first. Don't like them at all - there should have been more new songs, definitely. It was a close call, but Confusion came on top.

I agree with you completely...unless we get a ringer like last time who grabs immunity 5 days in a row to screw up the end... :)

Spotnick has declared that kinda behavior illegal.

Hum, that's true, TPK vs Temptation might be the final battle, damn, I tought I found a good one :(

Oh well... we never know, remember that we are talking about actual versions on Substance.. hence, I don't like 1963 on that CD, and it will be HARD to make me believe BLT and True Faith won't make it to the top 5...

A complete singles battle will be the best, imagine Ceremony, PK, True Faith, Regret, Crystal etc going head to head... a fierce bloody battle that will be!!!!!!

Was initially saddened to see the lovely Subculture nominated - but upon reading the full post, I am forced to agree with every word.

(You were joking about shooting JR though, right? ;) )

So many bad ones to eliminate. The Beach gets my vote. But it could have easily been: Blue Monday Shame a couple of the instrumentals a host of others..

my vote goes to bizarre dub triangle!

Shame for me also, hopefully then State, Shock & Cock, & Sub & Dub. 3 truly awful 12" singles. IMO.

How about doing (The Best Of) as Survivor. No Temptation, and not the original TPK.

Or get ridiculous and do a Retro Survivor! ;-)

Looks like it's going to be Shame Of A Nation. Well isn't that a shame? No not really.

my favorite song on Substance is actually Blue Monday (followed by True Faith).

you gotta admit that the haunting sound of Bernard's vocals on the Substance Subculture is pretty cool. i definitely don't dig the version as much as the Low-Life one, but i like the sound of the vocals a bit more.
