I have done some modifications to the song browser tonight (while watching a game) and I want your input to enhance it or modify things.

The song browser was previously the "Lyrics" menu element of the Resources menu.

If you check by example Blue Monday's Page you will see what I mean.

What I have added tonight is basically clickable stuff and additional statistics.

* The amount of times played live, you can click and see the gigs list. * The first time played live, you can click and see the gig * The last time played live, you can click and see the gig

Those are the live stats.

Other features added:

* You can click on a version name to see all "releases" featuring that version. * Various releases and now categorized (albums, compilation, promo, soundtracks, compilations) * You can see which bands covered that song (that I have.. of course not complete list)

Missing Things (night is young)

* Click on the cover band to have a page about that specific version. * Song Version notes and credits. They exists, they are just not available anywhere yet.

Apart from the design which I'm totally not satisfied with (it must be horrible in less than 1024x768) and because on some songs (check Crystal for instance), you can scroll a lot to see all information, let me know what you think and what you think can be an enhancement for those pages..

I'm quite satisfied with the album pages in the discography, it looks quite nice if you actually print them! eventually when pictures will all have proper descriptins, it will even be better.. this is one of the last step for the discography to be "well done"..

As I told you, the site is dynamic, using a database, so it's very easy to create new stuff, it took me a lot less time than anyone trying to do what I did, believe me! (in static of course)

well, once again this fine site has topped itself yet again   this is a nice addition, esp. the first/last live play

very very nice indeed. A lot of work it seems to me, but the result is impressive.

My advice would be: divide the official releases in

  1. official New Order releases

  2. official releases miscellaneous (Corvin Dalek etc.).

At the moment i'm collecting all the official NO releases in mp3 on the internet. The offical NO releases from Crystal for example would be:

Crystal (bedrock dub) Crystal (bedrock radio edit #1) Crystal (commercial edit) Crystal (creamer k main remix) Crystal (digweed & muir bedrock dub) Crystal (Digweed & Muir Bedrock Main Remix Edit) Crystal (Digweed & Muir Bedrock Mix Edit) Crystal (digweed & muir 'bedrock' radio edit) Crystal (digweed & muir bedrock remix) Crystal (full length mix) Crystal (intro mix) Crystal (john creamer & stephane k main edit) Crystal (john creamer & stephane k main mix edit) Crystal (john creamer & stephane k main remix edit) Crystal (john creamer & stephane k remix edit) Crystal (john creamer + stephane k intro remix) Crystal (lee coombs dub) Crystal (lee coombs remix) Crystal (mixed by spike) Crystal (original version) Crystal (radio edit) Crystal Alternative Mix

This list is based on the info from http://www.niagara.edu/neworder/ en NOOL. So i hope its correct :)

A brilliant idea, BUT you have to make sure the live stats are all correct. There's so many gigs missing, and so many gigs that mysteriously seem to have Procession omitted from the track listing (don't know if that's the same on your database, but there are literally loads of gigs listed that all omit Procession for some reason, when it was played that night).

For example, I've just looked at the Cries and Whispers page, which says it was last played in 1981. I've got 5 tapes with it on from 1983 sat in front of me right now !

What will be the easiest way for us to compare databases on this ? I've got the setlist of every known gig stored.

Further to the above, the database is definitely screwed when it comes to Procession. It first appeared in Manchester Squat 1980, and had been played 39 times before 11/4/82 alone !

Apart from a few problems (above), it's a great page and a fantastic resource!

Best way would be to send me that list, or I can easily generate a list like that myself.

As for Cries & Whispers.. problem has to be.. Mesh! we didn't know which song it was then.

I also want to included known bootlegs for shows.. but that should takea while.

Let me know, I sure want to correct this!

When we created the basic structure of the site, I filled about 95% of the setlist information in the Tours & Concerts section, taking the information from various sources, but mainly from two: Water Rat's site (thanks to him again) and the New Order anthologies (discs 1 to 10). I was about to do it as well for Joy Division when I somewhat dropped the towel -- too much tedious work !!!! :nonono:

This information is, of course, far from being complete or 100% correct, and we knew it from the start. Thanks to you Benny and others on the site, we will be able to amend what needs to be and hopefully everything will be as it should be.

As Nicolas pointed, we have "Hurt" entered in several places while it should probably be Cries & Whispers instead. The problem is, maybe we would do a mistake if we would change every "Hurt" for "Cries & Whispers" because for some of the shows, maybe it was REALLY the real "Hurt"! The only way for us to know for sure is by having a confirmation by people like you who would listen to the shows and let us know! :)

Tedious work, I said!

We also need to complete our Electronic, Revenge & Monaco setlists. I think I have most Electronic concerts in MP3, but for the others I don't have much.

You meant Mesh.. not Hurt... :D

Excelent stuff.

I like the new song listings, it's very detailed.

the LWTUA page has just gone out of date though.:)

see the links below:

I also notice your missing the fact2002 ep by Bis where they covered 4 factory bands including the songs LWTUA & Hurt.

keep up the great work

Wow! You are really quick. We were discussing this yesterday and to my surprise now it's already done.

I know it's difficult, but we need to keep the database accurate and updated.

Great job, Nicolas! :)

This will be a fantastic resource, no doubt about it. Wish it had been available 15 years ago when my tape empire was booming !!!!!!

Excellent addition. If only every other website (music or otherwise) had as much effort put in.
