24hours is DEEP! "Oh how I realized how I wanted time,Put into perspective, tried so hard to find,Just for one moment I thought I'd found my way.Destiny unfolded, I watched it slip away."
As far as I'm concerned the most intense lyrics written by Ian were those written for In A Lonely Place, especially the third verse which Hooky has allegedly wiped from the surviving tape of the song.
Listening to Barney sing it is harrowing enough, but to hear Ian sing it would have been - could still be deeply saddening.
This is a difficult one, most intense lyrics? Well the lyrics to 24hrs and New Dawn Fades are both intense, but the music to NDF is more intense than 24hrs.....do you see what I'm getting at;) For me the song with the most intense lyrics would be Decades.
Twenty Four Hours Love Will Tear Us Apart In A Lonely Place New Dawn Fades Decades Disorder
all pop into mind...but then again, every song Ian ever wrote was pretty damn intense.
but twenty four hours, LWTUA and In A Lonely Place are the most intense for me.
god, i love Ian' lyrics.
She's Lost Control
not as obviously dramatic, but the detail and cold repetition work it in.
I can't decide. All I know is that when I got Heart & Soul I listened to it in one sitting at work and when it was finished I just sat there in my chair completely drained and overwhelmed.
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D anita...Joy Division...no place for wimps
wow, it doesn't get much tougher than this. I'm gonna go with heart and soul, I guess. There have literally been times when this song ( and a number of others )from mr. Curtis' pen have reduced me to tears. may seem sad for a rock band to have such an effect on a grown man, but I suppose we're not talking about a typical rock band, are we?
In a Lonely Place it almost looks into the future and can be seen as a kind of premonition. Disorder is my No1 song by JD though
