Too Late

I was born 5 yrs. too late . I wish I was born in 64 in order to see all that great 80's music performed live. What about you? Has anyone ever seen Echo + bunnymen. Them, NO, and Devo would be an awesome concert.

No, but I can comiserate. I was born 15 years too late. By the time I came into the world, NewOrder were just about to release "Low-Life". Most of my favourite records came out before I was born.

I was born at the right time (1962) but in the WRONG country. DID get to see Devo in 1982 - great show.

Well I was born in 67 and I saw Echo! May 1984 and it was me first gig, actually...

It would be easier to see them if they toured more extensively...

That was possibly their best era live - Ocean Rain stuff plus all the back catalogue, and far better than the dark Porcupine days of late 82 and early 83 !!

I was born in 1974, first saw NO in 1986 playing Perfect Kiss on TV, became NO fan in 1987, and lost, in 1988, their only gig ever in Brazil. I got pissed since then, until May 2002, when I first presenced NO playing live - in Paris, Le Zénith. After this, I saw them at Finsbury Park, 2002/06/09. I never saw Echo live - I missed their gig at Finsbury, they played first of all, when I tought they would play just before New Order. Someday, brazilian journalists asked to Ian MacCulloch what was his favourite song of ever and he said: "Surely is Ceremony! Those fucking bastards (of JD/NO) wrote and play the most perfect rock song that always happened! I wish I had wrote it..." You're entirely right, Mr. Culloch, but they came first.

I was born about the same time as Transmission came out. Never seen them live except through videos.

Born 1970. Only 9 years old when Ian threw a 7. Been a fan since Summer87 Couldn't have been happier when they played LWTUA at Apollo98:)

I find one night stands very draining, it's much easier lying down, on a bed if possible !!

I saw NO and Echo & The Bunnymen together in New York in 1987; absolutely amazing. I was only passing through for 4 days and couldn't believe my luck when I found out this gig was on (also had Gene Loves Jezabel as warm-up). Bought a ticket from a scalper for some ridiculous price. He was good enough to offer me coke to go with my ticket... not sure he meant the drink in the red can though.

Surely you were born at the perfect time to appreciate 80's music? (Though, what exactly constitutes 80's music is still beyond me - I don't like to pigeonhole things).

Had you been born in 64 you run the risk of having your formative music-listening years influenced by the likes of Yes, Genesis and Black Sabbath!

i've got to comment. i'm glad i was born in 1974, as i was born at the perfect time to enjoy '80s music, 'new wave' or otherwise. i was young enough not to be jaded by the music business, yet old enough to realize that i was listening to something special. hearing NO, echo, etc. before you hit your teens was very inspiring--you didn't know any of their influences so they were so fresh. just you and the band. very cool. great, fun years. so glad i missed 'yes'.

plus, one of my earliest television memories is of watching the video for devo's 'whip it'. i was totally entranced by the flower pots on their heads! (first TV memory: seeing on the news that some famous guy named 'john lennon' had just been killed)

I'm quite glad to have been able to see the rise and fall of the punk/new wave/indie scenes from the time when I was a mere freshman in high school in 76, albeit in a place where there wasn't a lot of action at the time.

Have seen the Bunnymen 3 times (Heaven Up Here, EATB album, and Evergreen); 88 show in Portland was brilliant, and impressed some English gents who were following them on tour.

i was born oh the same year when "An Ideal For Living" came out! :D as far as seeing New Order or Echo live, well... i havn't yet. :( The closest band i could think of is The Cure, whom i've seen twice in 2000. Two of the most memorable shows i've been to. The February show in NYC was everything i dreamed of, lots of darker fan faves in an intimate ballroom venue. And then later in June in Long Island, they play to what almost became a three hour show! amazing... cheers.

Went to a 1987 show with Echo and New Order. Saw shows in 1999 and 2001 as well. I also enjoyed a 1990 Ian McCulloch concert in San Francisco where he encored with Ceremony

I saw New Order twice (89 and 93), Echo once (88), Depeche Mode twice (90 and 97). I came in at the very end of the great 80's so I was lucky to see what I could when I could. My regret: got into the Smiths, then they broke up, so I never saw them.

I was born in '69. Didn't see NO until '87 when I was 17. I wish I'd been able to see some earlier gigs - '82-'85 where imo they were at their peak performance wise.

i would have loved to have seen NO around '82, as well, but for me, as a 7/8 year old, that was my peak olivia newton-john-listening year. :D

Not many of the 82 gigs were that great - far too much "work in progress", with rambling 10 minute Ultraviolences everywhere, shapeless 586s and Hurt at every gig ! Sure, it was good to hear new songs and to see Barney starting to grow into the frontman persona, but some of the shows were a bit loose, shall we say.

Born in '67 and was lucky enough to see them in Edinburgh twice - 85 at the Caley Palais (wake in support) and the playhouse (86?) then saw them at Glasgow Barrowlands (87?)

Thats been all but hope to see them again...
