Too Late

Born in 1956 and still it appears I'm the oldest person using this site. Hadn't even heard of NO until 1987 let alone seen them live, yet I met Barney and Hooky in 1967.

i imagine they stood around a lot still looking a bit out of place without you-know-who, and didn't interact much with the audience, am i right? still, it would have been interesting to see them in the early days. although, i suppose hindsight is easier.... 'hurt' at every gig, though? sounds fine with me!

Surely you were born at the perfect time to appreciate 80's music? (Though, what exactly constitutes 80's music is still beyond me - I don't like to pigeonhole things).

Had you been born in 64 you run the risk of having your formative music-listening years influenced by the likes of Yes, Genesis and Black Sabbath!

i've got to comment. i'm glad i was born in 1974, as i was born at the perfect time to enjoy '80s music, 'new wave' or otherwise. i was young enough not to be jaded by the music business, yet old enough to realize that i was listening to something special. hearing NO, echo, etc. before you hit your teens was very inspiring--you didn't know any of their influences so they were so fresh. just you and the band. very cool. great, fun years. so glad i missed 'yes'.

plus, one of my earliest television memories is of watching the video for devo's 'whip it'. i was totally entranced by the flower pots on their heads! (first TV memory: seeing on the news that some famous guy named 'john lennon' had just been killed)

oh my, how sad for a first t.v. memory. i remember being in college, 2 year, i think it was a monday night (???) and coming back to the apartment and my other 3 roomies were so sad/crying...a moment i never forgot
