Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I did have something to say on the topic. But for now I shall just apologise for knackering this fine thread. :(

The Perfecto Mix of World is indeed a million times better than the original version. I sometimes think that Paul Oakenfold and Steve Osbourne should have been the ones producing this album.

The K-Klass remic of Ruined In A Day (Re-united in a Day) is a favourite with me. Does anyone know what the difference is in the Touched by the Hand of Bias mix of TBTHOG is like, you know the one on the Manure album. Being an Arsenal fan I dont really want to buy that CD !

to flip the subject: does anyone else find the remix of 'regret' on the 'retro' club CD particularly yucky?

i understand that the 12" of TPK is even longer than the one that appears on Substance. its one of my faves... as for remixes that are better than the originals: Regret (Fire Island mix) Crystal (Lee Coombes mix) and i dunno if this counts but i'll put it in anyway :) She's Lost Control (12" version)

cheers.

uh oh! i think you've opened a can of worms here... ;) just like the remix of Subculture (which i hate), i know a lot of people hate the Sabres Slow n' Low remix to Regret. i have to say i like it. i like that dubby-reggae feel to it, just like the Andrea remix of Blue Monday, they go together very well. cheers.

It's a way different mix, starts a bit ambient and then goes a bit techno. Quite good as it happens.

On the subject of Reunited, that's probably my favourite remix, and there is an instrumental version of it that is well worth tracking down.

The best remix for me is: True Faith (alternate Faith dub)

I know this one can be heavily debated on either side but I like BLT on substance versus the Brotherhood version.

i always preferred the Brothers in Rhythm mix of World. also the Fluke mix of Spooky is great. Shame Of The Nation is better than State IMO. generally not a fan of remixes though.

Even though I think the Substance version of TPK is definitive, I love "Kiss of Death". The beginning, when all the layers come in at once makes it so much more urgent and exciting.

prefer album tracks more these days but remixes through my youth inspired me

Round and Round 12", better than the album edit...the same with Sub-Culture (Substance mix better).

i also love the Substance mix of Sub-Culture. it's a camp classic!

Remixes that are better than the original in my opinion:

  • Confusion (Koma & Bones Vocal Mix)
  • The Perfect Kiss (Hot Tracks Mix)
  • Shellshock (the long one)
  • Bizarre Love Triangle '94
  • Touched By The Hand Of God (Biff & Memphis Remix)
  • Round & Round (Detroit Mix)
  • Vanishing Point (Making Out Mix)
  • World In Motion (1996 Remix)
  • Regret (New Order Mix)
  • World (Perfecto Mix)
  • Ruined In A Day (K-Klass Mix)
  • Spooky (Stadium Mix)
  • Here To Stay (Felix Da Housecat Mix) = depends on the mood

The SLY remix on 60 Miles An Hour CD1 (??...The same CD as Sabotage, anyway), I think it's possibly called the Funk DeVoid remix or something... That's a good un.
