because she works those lovely synths into NO's music. and because she's definitely got her priorities straight, and thus she should be a patron saint to sick children everywhere...no more Mother Teresa, let's canonize St. Gillian! and cuz she's mighty cute, especially when she looks (but doesn't play) a bit awkward behind a guitar.

because she is the wife of a joy division member.

Because she redefined the word "nonchalant" (or should that read pure naked fear) when onstage.

Because of those little sideways glances she used to make at Barney and Hooky when performing live to ensure she ended the synth sequences at the right time.

Because she comes across as really bashful, but someone who knows how to laugh a lot.

Because she put her daughter before anything else.

Because she's married to a top geezer.

She found amazing ways to express oneself musically whilst playing only the white keys on the keyboard.
