Because he has grown old (dis)gracefully and flaunts his new-found gut around stage along with his trailer-bike bass guitar.

Because his bass guitar sound is completely unique.

Because he now really enjoys himself onstage and seems rejuvenated.

Because he launched the career of Stone Roses by producing Elephant Stone

Because he was cool enough to lampoon his studly persona by being surrounded by transvestites for his "NewOrderStory" video interview.

I'd forgotten that ! Yes, he looked very much like a pimp, it has to be said !
