Well, I might be eating crisps between verses and chorus...

Liv, 1963 cannot touch Fine Time in terms of its relevance to the period it was written in. Even now it stands the test of time, and shows how influential and forward thinking the band are.

Originally posted by Huntsman 'Don't put your finger on the button' is an excerpt taken from a small British film made in the late 80's. It was a made-for-tv film a bit like 'Pennies from Heaven' or 'The Singing Detective'. It was not unlike a play made for tv. It was mostly some couples on a canal boat on holiday, you know, the BBC2 style films that are shown every now and then. In one of the scenes the phrase is said a few times - not science fiction I'm afraid, just some geezer with his finger on one of the buttons on the boat.

So New Order turned a banal canal boat phrase into a nuclear attack drama imagery! Wow.

State of the Nation without question the most average records NO ever committed to record.

I think Hurt and Chemical are both pretty bad song. And except from Dreams Never End, i never listen to Movement.

I think at this stage of the game the importance now is to achieve 1,000 views in this post to help Geoff achieve god like status.

Perhaps this isn't particularly relevant, but where's Nic the Blank lately? - has he fallen asleep at the wheel.

Personally I prefer 1963 to Fine Time. Nothing to do with the statement they are making about the time or anything to do with that. I prefer it based totally on the fact that i like the melody and the sounds.... very basic idea, but very true.

Besides, Barney himself said that his didnt have a message for the world, he simply writes his songs/lyrics because he likes them..........ands thats why i choose to like them too.....

State of the nation is just different than anything else , this is why many of you do not like it.

Im not sure about that, I think State of the nation is quite a typical New Order song of the period. . . . but thats just my opinion....

Yeah! Keep the thread going!

But c'mon, seriously, that Christmas flexi is REALLY bad. "Ode to joy" is god-awful - totally unlistenable. That 20 minutes of 5-8-6 is pretty bad too (although the razormaid version of 5-8-6 rocks), but evertyhing else ranges from OK to good to great!!!
