Okay...one more fooking try here...

I said something to the affect that I was amazed that not a single one of us has mentioned the 1990 release of world in motion...I mean, I got it, because it was a neworder thing, but really, what do any of us americans care about Eng-er-land's World Cup football club... just seeing if I am the only one....

actually jeff -

i liked the world in motion single. i still have the cassette in the car. i enjoy andrew weatherall's production and the instrumental. i also liked the mystique of the "loves got the world in motion" ecstasy reference. at the time i was totally obsessed with english music and culture so a football song by new order was 2 for the price of 1.

I agree with Barney. He said "Blue Monday" in Liverpool the other week.

Thud, Thud, Thud, Thud etc.

PS Sunrise was always the best.

blue monday should be dropped from the live set without a doubt. Surnise, Ceremony, Theives Like Us ...something from Technique, perhaps Dream Attack...i would like to see a poll started where the fan club votes for what they would most like to hear live and maybe get the band to respond. its either that or Allen and his gang of merry hooligans will follow them every stop of the tour shouting "CEREMONY" during the quiet parts...

1963 is my least favourite NO song - it reminded me of Deacon Blue!

Deacon Poo?

Are you demented?

I LOVE 1963, one of their best ever in my humble opinion....

Excellent idea! We'll have that poll running very soon on this site.

Strange that you would say that because Everyone Everywhere is in my Top 10 favorite songs by New Order.

And I like both World, Ruined in a Day and Special I must say... and even Spooky and Avalanche passes the test.

I've always loved that one as well! I think Stephen Morris mentionned where the "don't put your finger on the button" was taken from in the ABSOLUT NEW ORDER interview that was in Select magazine back in 1993. Unfortunately I lended my copy of the magazine to Nicolas LAST OCTOBER so that he could scan it FOR THE SITE (I don't own a scanner myself), and he still has it.

You know I heard it was something from WWII but I couldn't put my finger on it, and the origin of the name Joy Division just explains it a little more...

"young offender" is made from the purest tripe, sounds like a reject from PSB "very"

'Don't put your finger on the button' is an excerpt taken from a small British film made in the late 80's. It was a made-for-tv film a bit like 'Pennies from Heaven' or 'The Singing Detective'. It was not unlike a play made for tv. It was mostly some couples on a canal boat on holiday, you know, the BBC2 style films that are shown every now and then. In one of the scenes the phrase is said a few times - not science fiction I'm afraid, just some geezer with his finger on one of the buttons on the boat.

Me and my mate were watching TV one night and we managed to stumble across this film, we were both into New Order and said 'Fucking hell', that's the 'Don't Do It' sample. Oh well, there you go.

Republic - what a mixed bag of opinions everybody's coming out with. Regret, World, Ruined in a Day, Avalanche, Everybody Everywhere, Spooky - for fuck's sake its not Power, Corruption and Lies, but let's face some facts here - when I first heard PC&L it was a pile of shite... its only years after you think, fuck it, its not that bad. Ecstasy off PC&L... any better than Spooky? - I fucking think not. Your Silent Face, well there's another thing.

Strange you bring up 'Ecstasy' coz it's about my favourite off that album...very twisted and dark. The fact that I haven't listened to republic for about 2 years explains my feelings about that album

we live in such a beautiful world everyone here loves NO but has some different favourite songs.

well for EVERYONE EVERYWHERE... 10 points the other standout on REPUBLIC

Dan, do you actually own Technique? Run is the beginning of a glorious effort (as in side 2 vinyl). Jesus~! Am I missing the fucking point here, wimpy? Bollocks.

my winners for "the worst/less good New Order song" competition are:

  • Young Offender
  • Liar
  • Confusion (especially when played live)
  • We all stand
  • Turn the Heater on (actually only a coverversion)

Fuck me Sonic Mike you've fucking said something I bastard agree with. Thank fuck I've found some other fucker out there who agrees that Temptation '87 and Confusion '87 were absolute filthy badger.

Why oh fucking why did they not just put the bastard originals on Substance?

Marco We all Stand and Turn the Fucking Radiator up are two classic moments.

This Post is going to ramble on forever.

For me, the worst NO song has to be...................................................................................... erm, ................................... thinking ........................................................ hhmmmmm............................ something off Movement. ICB stands for Ian Curtis Buried by the way.

I think the 2nd half of Technique is my favourite sequence of any songs from any band..starting with Run and ending in my personal favourite NO track; Dream Attack.

I think I'm breaking all the records of posts and views with that topic... Almost 1.000 views, keep them coming... :)

Am I proud or am I proud ?

huntsman: the original versions will sure be the on a greatest hits sampler when the band is too old to produce good songs, this will pay their rent

Fucking hell Geoff you are indeed the king of all known posts you jammy get. I had noticed 1,000 views coming close.... if you reach this landmark you should be rewarded with a small cake. Why don't you eat some crisps in celebration.

Mike, I genuinely believe that at the time NO felt that Temptation and Confusion needed Stock Aitken and Waterman production, the soft nackas.

Or maybe I will just sing "Love Vigilantes" out loud...
