Is NewOrderGetReady.com dead?

I recently tried to access NewOrderGetReady.com to take some screen shots before the site was taken down but I've found that I can't access it from home or work.

Does anyone know if they've taken it down?

This leads to my second question - does anyone have any screen shots they could share of that site or the U.S. version which is also, apparently, shut down?

I really don't understand why record companies take these "official" sites down. Even if you aren't going to update the site why not leave it up? It only costs a few dollars a year to pay for the domain name and you still have all those albums, singles and promotional materials out there listing that as the official site.

I know that it strains the imagination but it's conceivable that someone could find a copy of GetReady, like it and then try to find out more by logging onto the website listed on the album. It seems that a record company with a vested interest in the future success of the band and record sales would want to take advantage of that web hit especially since the cost to them would be so low. At the very least they could redirect hits to that website to NewOrderRetro.com or something.

Perhaps someone here with more expertise than myself can enlighten me as to why London Records doesn't do this?

I agree with you. On the other hand, newcomers to the wonderful world of all things NewOrder can do this very simple thing: perform a search on google and visit their #1 site...

I agree that the information on NewOrderGetReady.com was pretty pointless - but my point is that the web address continues to have value especially with all the albums, singles and other items that remain in circulation with that address printed on them.

I know this is an imperfect analogy but suppose a business moves after several years at one address. There's no question they would arrange to forward all the mail from their old address since the old address would still be on thousands of business cards, stationary and the like.

All the New Order items out there in circulation are going to generate a certain amount of hits to that address. Ditto with all the bookmarks. Those hits are worth something to anyone who has something to sell.

I know that anyone with any amount of savy could Google New Order and end up here in :). I hope they do. My point is that it doesn't make good business sense to essentially throw away a website address that they spend thousands of dollars to advertise especially when the cost of keeping it at an asset is ridiculously small.

I'm sorry for the rant - I just find it hard to believe the record companies with so much money to spend on lawsuits can't find some change in their seat cusions to hire a few technology consultants.

I'd still really like a screen shot of the old website if anyone has one.

...besides, anyone that gets their hands on get ready today, knowing nothing about NO except that they have been around for over 20 years, would get the primative notion of the band being OLD reinforced.

Wow - that's a useful site - thanks! Too bad they don't have the 1999 Electronic-Net.com site. Perhaps they'd have the 1996 Electronic site if only I could remember the address.

As far as we're all concerned, this is the "official" site, unless we want to look at "purchase of the month"
